For some reason Ive had a lot of motivation to train hard and I have been doing so. Im at the gym 6 days a week, lifting wed, fri, sun, and cardio tues, thurs, sat....seems to be working out really well and im already noticing a difference....

Lets hear it boys,

Freeweights 3 days a week, Spin class on the same 3 days as well, and then something outdoors (snowboard, snowshoe, etc.) on the weekend.

Don't wait too long!

Last winter I did nothing but sit around. I got huge and by the time the season came I was not ready one bit. My physical condition has always held me back. I feel like I can hit sections with all the other jr. x kids but I couldn't link them all together. I am really excited to see what my hardwork will do for my riding.

I have been working out with James's Mountain Bike Strenght Training System for the past month. Basically I have been doing a lot of mobility exercises, stretching and lifting. It has been going really well, I can already notice a difference from when I used to work out on my own with no trainer. I have also been doing one or two spin classes a week and just yesterday I did my first double header spin class. I cant wait for the season to start boooooooyaah!

its a nice thought to think that i could be out getting in super duper shape right now and ready for the season, but the reality of it is that I have so much work for school that it is damn near impossible to put together a routine workout schedual.

3 or 4 days a week in the gym. Cardio warm up (never more than 30 minutes) followed by stretching and lifting. Sometimes, when my work and school schedule allows, I'll get back to the gym at night for another 30 minutes of cardio. I've been focusing on general fitness/flexibility/maintenance and plan to put the training into high gear in April and May.

I lift Mon/Wed/Fri and run 6 miles Tues./Thurs.

On the weekends it's internet porn.

To mix it up, I'll go to my basement and fight Chuck Norris.

Hell of a workout.

monday, wendsday and friday weightlifting....tuesday and thursday cardio, either 60min spinning or rowing. if don t make it to the gym then i take the big bike out and do some street ridin with it. on weekends if the weather is moderately good as in no storm then i hike up for 40-50min to ride some trail with the big bike. the hardtail is resting right now, cause the dirt jumps are unrideable and well....my v10 is just so much sexier and makes for a better workout...or so...just an excuse to ride it...hehe.
i also try hard to get drunk on fridays and saturdays and then get some sexy time.....working and training all week long and then pulling out some good sexy time on saturday night is a good test of ur endurance!...think i m gonna patent it:imstupid:

I've been "training" a decent amount even though I might not do much racing this season. My goal has been to keep my weight the same in get a bit stronger and fitter overall.

I rode the trainer a lot earlier in this winter, but I've been doing more running lately, outside when I can. I've also done a few hikes on the weekend (did around 15 miles last Saturday). A few days a week in the gym lifting as well. Right now I'm at about 178 lbs and benching around 260-70, which is about as good as it gets for me. My legs are in pretty good shape too.

Swim daily, at least 800 meters, and walk the dogs.

Ski one day every weekend, either alpine or backcountry.

Try to bike one day every weekend, between snow melts. Usually means I just go skiing again.

Paddle on the days I get off early.

Dont really do all this specifically to train...more for fun, but it works.

Baby squat and rocks, at 10pm, 12am, 4am and 6am daily, plus supersets on weekends. Upping the weight about a 1/2 lb per week. Bonus plyometric moves to keep the little bugger from squirming. My thighs will dwarf Teh Jan's.

Ive been spinning and doing lower body for a week or two. I do cardio spin, intervals, then do leg presses, calf raises, and starting some squats and dead lifts. Also do core on the same day we do lower body, do lower back, sides, abs. For spinning I usually do a 10 minute warm up, then 40mins to an hour of varying length intervals. Ive been doing some light upper body stuff for the past month, mostly back and shoulders which seem to get the most fatigued for me, but im starting upper body at the gym tomarrow.

Ive also been snowboarding a bit too , which isnt really training but its fun and im sometimes sore, so ill take that.

I play basket ball in the local excell Y ball leauge and tennis at my highschool. I lift hard every other day and do a little on the off days.

ive gained ten pounds this off season which is good because im 17 6, 2 and used to only weight 165 pounds. So ten pounds of muscil isent really bulkin up more of just getting where its normal to be.

I havent ridden as much as I could though.

im trying to do a bit gym once a week for weights and cardio. Night trail ride once a week, which alternates every second week with some night xc racing. Then either 2 days dh riding or trail building. Unfortunatly most of its trail building at the moment. Trying to get a track ready for the first Irish NPS race of the season. Only 1 month to go now, so I'm in full rock carrying berm building mode.

I'm just keeping my base elevated for the moment, the punishment starts very soon. I like to push myself hard 2 months before the Open. Worked well for me last year, and I expect to come out far far stronger this spring. I love you.

I'm riding 12-15hrs on the road and spending 6 days a week lifting. Mon, Wed, Fri upper body and Tues, Thurs Sat lower body. I try to mix up my Saturdays and Sundays with longer road rides(around 4 hrs) in the morning and then the afternoon on the DH bike. I'm also racing XC though...hence so many hours on the road

I've been working out at the gym 3-4 days a week with a personal trainer since late November. Riding when I can if it isn't snowing here in Colorado. We made a trip out to Bootleg last month and since then, I'm back at the gym again. I'm about to start Racing BMX on a regular basis again in both 20" and Cruiser. That should be stunning. I figure it'll be a huge help in keeping up my legs as well as all the work I'm putting in at the gym. Seems like it all is going well so far.

Oh yes. Lacrosse gives new meaning to the words "painful workout." I just got home from a 3 hour practice with lots of hitting and sprints.

Wait till you get older, you'll wish for 190! I remember I worked so hard when I was 17 to hit 165 and I couldn't do it for the life of me. I became lazy for a year late in college and passed that mark with a nice belly! :) Had to work to get below 165 and be lean

I spent a lot of time in the gym from thanksgiving till about a week and a half ago, working on increasing strength only (low reps, lots of rest) not getting big. I ended up a lot stronger- deadlifting 425 lb, squating 325, and benching 240 all for reps of 4, I am tall, skinny, and long limbed, so besides the deadlift my numbers are mediocre as I am not built for squats or benches. Either way I am stronger than I have ever been, hopefully it will pay off this season. Powerlifting is exhausting..... I am through with it, and all's I want to do is ride my bike!

I tech-whored it up on the internet. Seems to work, I'm doing better now than I ever have, and I attribute it aaaaaaall to a miniscule improvement in my fork flex.

Been weightlifting/powerlifting 2-3X a week, doing intervals on the trainer 2X a week, some spin classes, etc. As an "older dude", I am finding that recuperation and stretching is as important as exercising - messed up my shoulder lifting too heavy...

I am following one of the notions from James Wilson/mtbstrengthcoach and am not doing a lot of endurance on the bike - full on intervals (5 @ 10 sec with 1 min rest, 3 @ 15 sec with 1.5 min rest, then 1-3 @ 20 sec with 2 min rest plus warm up and cool down of 15-20 min) while blasting the 1st Iron Maiden album save me from full on basement tedium.

Then I mess it all up after by drinking a lot of hops and barley!
