So I figure its about time to buy myself a present. I'm interestred in the Dodge Ram 2500 with the new 6.7 Cummins but I'm also looking at the new Tundra, though that bulbous hood is kind of a turn off. I also have a coworker that's selling his 05 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax. He also has a leveling kit and the full Banks kit on it...want $30k. I know everyone says don't buy the first year of any new model but realistically how bad can a toyota turn out? The Dodge is an old platform but new engine, but the fact that its a diesel says to me that it'll last. Anyone want to chime in?

When will Toyota pull their head out of their ass and offer a diesel?

Other than the shi**y dash, my brother loves his old ass Cummins diesel Dodge.

what about the 08 Ford superduty with the 6.4 twin turbo Power Stroke? although ive never been a ford guy

If I had the cash Id buy a diesel ram, the Cummins ISB is a medium duty engine in a light truck (compared to the 3 and 5 ton trucks its used in) the new six speeds are stout, I like the inteior layout compared to Ford and GM and my brother has a dodge and he seems pretty happy.

My 92 toyota 4x4 has 316,000 on the clock now and aside from the fact that the suspention is just plain worn out runs day in, day out no complaning. I luged 980lbs of scrap metal to the recyclers yesterday didn't bog it down abit.

Well I've been reading alot on the 6.0 powerstrokes. How they were some of the worst engines Navistar produced. Ford went from a 7.3 to a higher output 6.0L motor with a lot more technology that didn't fly. When it comes to diesels, Cats, Detroits, or Cummins are the only way to go...and Cummins is the only one who makes one for a 3/4 ton pickup.

Plus the seats in the fords feel like they should fit someone with an ass half my size. I drove my friends' 350 Dualie and those seats were so freakin uncomfortable.

I have a 91 toyota 3.0 SR5 and I've had a chronic starting issue with it. it only has 186,000

You can't go wrong with a Dodge Diesel. Look at the resale value of the Dodge compared to any other 2500. I am looking for a used Dodge and they run about $15k compared to $10k for a Chevy/GMC or $8k F*rd.

You can get 300k miles out of it too without issues. The Cummins does very well on Bio too.
