Whistler age policies?

I'm pissed at people my age ruining a good thing for us all. I'm 20 (will be 21 when we go to whistler) and last year was able to rent a place in whistler village north for a decent price. This year all the reservation agencies and individual hotels are raising their age limits to either 21 for all guests or 1 guest whose 25 and the rest doesn't matter.

I hate it when people mess up that badly and ruin it for everyone else who actually takes it seriously. we're just there to ride and have a little fun but we know our limits.

Anyone else here having problems with this and know of any smaller hotels that might still allow younger guests? I'm willing to put up a fatty security deposit and we've never had problems anywhere with being loud or rowdy.

All of last year, whenever I made accomodation reservations, I was never asked how old I was...Maybe I was staying at the right places....Huh...I'll have to watch out for that this year...(or not...I'll just mess with them. :)

You now also need to be 21 to ride a hardtail there.
They allow hardtails now, great! Still feel sorry for all the kids without FS bikes though.

And about the hotels, I belive it is the likes of Peaty and his buddies that smash up hotel rooms in the films that have made all the youngsters forget them selves and think they also are rock stars.. I used to be a rock star, but then I got banned from MTV.

Well i'm telling them that because i would hate to driver 20 hours straight, get there and then find out I have no place to sleep all week. The whistler village inn and suites allows 21 year olds, so i'm pushing the trip back a week so I will be 21 but my buddy morethanjake543 is still 20, so might just need to sneak him in if they do check ID.

we stayed at the Marketplace lodge last year and it was 19 and up and we had no problems and we caused no problems, we actually made friends with alot of the residents. the harder the make the rules, the more we will push and break them.

If only you go up and check in...I doubt that they will ask for any one else's id.....usually the guys (or gals) don't care that much. It's just the parent company that you call (ResortQuest, etc. et.al. ) that have those rules and regs. Once you're there, no one cares.

NORCAL is the hizzle
Try alluradirect.com. It lists a gazillion private places and puts you in direct contact with the owners. During the summer many places are empty and the owners are often willing to relax their usual rules to get some rent, especially if you are willing to give them a deposit.

Yeah...I think by Utah law you have to be 21 to get a room, but I'm 19 and have gotten a bajillion hotel rooms no questions asked. As long as you have a CC you're fine.

Those aren't hotels, they're shanty motels where clean sheets cost extra..

only on the lower trails (not garbanzo). hardtailers are also subject to a basic competency test prior to riding the lift.
Letting go of the bar/finger on the nose test; standing still balance test; looking over the shoulder while riding forward without changing direction?

i could just book and hope for the best, but its too long a distance to leave to chance. bah i hate resort quest and intrawest
Don't sleep in the car. That is poor quality sleep and it's hard to organize with all the stuff lying around. Get a big tent at an army surplus (preferably one of those that has been used as a command or hospital tent cus they're higher at the waist down) and park it at a camping. There you'll have runninng water and showers. If there's no camping, don't worry, park it preferably next to running water or have big dunks of water with you that you fill at a gas station.

I never sleep as good in a bed as I do in a sleepingbag. :thumb:

Just call the hotel up directly (or look online) and book it straight with them. BTW, I stayed at the Inn and Suites last year, good breakfast there.

We stayed at the suites last year. And the year before, we got into permperton hotels super easy, too. It's easy for them to say no on the phone, so I hope it's harder for them to say no in person.

actually last year we were at marketplace lodge through resort quest, but resort quest is now 25 only and the marketplace lodge minimum age is also 25. pemberton was easy but too far away.

I am with ya on the phone thing. policies are easy to read off but once you've paid for a room and you're there they might not make a big fuss about it... hopefully
