DID YOU KNOW:
Dark roast coffee actually has less caffiene as it is roasted longer. Lighter roasts actually contain more caffiene since the bean is less cooked.

Now you can have coffee that doesn't taste like ass and still gives you a pick up!

It's not. It is absolutely terrible. Terrible. I tried it three times and could never finish my cup.

Tim Horton's makes a good cup o' joe though. :)
Yes! I was wondering when someone would mention TH. A brief visit to BC let me know that in the world of donut/coffee places; Tim Horton's reigns supreme!

Best coffee ever!

The reason you don't have Dunkin Donuts near you is because you have a Krispy Kreme near you. One has a line wrapped around the block when the fresh doughnuts sign is on, and the other one goes out of business. I will let you guess which one is which.

Both have decent coffee compared to fast food joints, but they are still watered down for me.
I like my coffee out of a french press, and it looks like motor oil, so maybe I am the weird one there.
As far as Starbucks, the only thing I like from them are their dark roast coffees. They are strong, and packed with caffeine.
you are quite wrong.

the KK has only been here in our city for about a year. Across the Tx boarder in Tyler there is a DD... been there for 20 years at least.

the KK here is not popular at all. hell they gave the air force base cases of doughnuts when the first opened and no one wanted their crap. Souther Maid is the donut king here.

los jefes made me wonder where the hell El Jefe went to...
all i remember is that he was regularly posting about his studliness, then he met a 23 year old (?) girl, proposed on the beach, got married in 2 weeks, and <poof!>

psst ... girls don't really know why they cry.
Just go along with what they say .. .trust me.
I know ... I live with a couple of them. ;)

Now .. on the DD thing.
Last night I pulled into DD with my boy and put in our usual order.
I then see the sign for the free drink.
I asked her .... "How was that free thing today?"

Her eyes rolled back in her head and she said "Don't even ask".
I smiled to her and thought ... my job could be worse. ;)

Interesting.
Around here, nothing can stay in business but KK.
Maybe it is because they are so ingrained in the community.
As a kid, school, churches, little leagues etc... were always selling
KK to raise money the same way the girl scouts sell cookies.
Chubby up the little kids young, get them addicted and have customers for life, or at least until the 1st heart attack.
My taste have changed over the years so I actually wished there was a DD here. Their cake doughnuts and giant honey buns kick ass.

There is a KK right across the street from my office. When it first opened up, they gave out more free crap than anyone would eat. After a month, the novelty wore off and it doesn't see any business from us.

Every Friday we have a delivery from Beaverton Bakery with doughnuts and bagels. Very good local joint with kick ass doughnuts. If KK was so much better (I think they are OK, but nothing to scream about) we would get the Friday load from them.

I found at least one source arguing that it depends on how you measure your coffee. Goes something like this: 1) water loss during roasting occurs faster than caffeine loss. 2)beans expand when roasted.

Therefore: measure your coffee by weight, and you get more caffeine per unit weight with dark roast. Measure by volume and you get more with light roast. Most people measure by volume (who weighs their coffee out before making it?). Prepackaged stuffs are often measured by weight.

What were we talking about again...oh, donuts...
