I'm not a fan, the ones I've ridden (Timberwolves I think) seemed very unpredictable. Some people swear by them for loose stuff though.

I had decent luck with the Timberwolves. Seem to do well in a variety of conditions. Very tough sidewalls, seem to last well. Heavy, though. I'd recommend them, but I don't think they are any better than other offerings out there (Maxxis, Michelin...).

Timberwolves are the only tires by WTB that are worth anything.
Agreed. My wife used the DH casing Timberwolves and they cleared very well and gripped in the wet excellently. I have been using the "race" (ie folding bead) Timberwolf on the front of my trailbike and it's holding up OK, though it doesn't grip as well as the DH version.

One downside we found (and I think Downhill Mike ran into this too) that the side knobs rip off pretty easily in rocky conditions.

I personally think the new WTB Dissent tire looks like it'd be nice with alittle trimming. I've tried their other tires in the past but was never blown away. I hold them in the same regards as kenda, which is nothing to brag about.

if i remember correctly the timerwolf was one EXTREMELY HEAVY tire. i've never ridden them but know a fellow who did and he wasnt impressed. they seemed to drain confidence from his front end.

I HATE the timberwolf, its just realy unpredictable. There new DH tires look realy sweet, and I'm actualy liking the wierwolf in 2.5 with the DH casing alot

I will say that the timberwolf as a front tire in hard conditions is not optimal. The knobs are too long and not wide enough for that. In intermediate/soft stuff or as a rear, it does better.

And yes, they are super heavy. The sidewalls are very good, though. Strong and tough without being so stiff as to make pressures hard to figure out. The 2.7 Timberwolf I have is huge and probably has a weight comparable to an Intense 2.7FRO.

I have a secret stash of Weirwolves 2.3 with Inner Peace, the sidewall reinforcement. I use it on the rear and I rarely flat.

I use the Timberwolf 2.5 on the front and I have solid cornering. I think it is best for the loose conditions, like N*.

i had the timberwolf 2.7 and i was doing endos in my driveway and my front wheel lost traction and skidded. i lost 4 knobs right there. like completely off the tire. by the way these are the heaviest tire out

ive had the timberwolve 2.7's and 2.5's and there are better tires out there. they are really good for mud and clearing out but when it comes right down to grip i find myself washing out more than id like to.
