DH in Gunnison?

hey i'm looking to go to school there and i wonder what the bike scene is? it looks decent but i havent had to many opinions? do any monkeys live near Gunnison or go to Western? hows the riding?racing? does Western have a DH team?

Thanks for the help, hopefully i will get to go there.

I am pretty sure Western has a fairly active downhill team. Crested Butte is fairly close I dont know if they offer lift service however.

I do know that Gunnison has a tendency to be the most bone-chillingly cold place in all of Colorado, but there are plenty of CUTE girls at Western to keep you warm on those cold nights.

dude go to western! i'm gunna be there next year. from the research i've done they have amazing epic single track trails, enduro type stuff. climb a few miles. then descend a few miles!!
the mtb team won d2 nationals last year. with some pretty good results in dh and 4x.
western is a the perfect school for being outdoors and majoring in outdoor rec. which is exactly why i'm going there!
what would u be majoring in?

unfortanitly crestted butte seems to have pretty whack dh trails from what i've found. i'm heading out otvisit in a couple of weeks and will know more abotu it then.

true, i dont know what i am majoring in yet, but i certainly like being in a outdoors type atmosphere. people say its really cold? but it must be really dry so it shouldnt be too bad coming from wet and cold NY?
