Go-Ride issues...

So I ordered a small red and white sunday factory frameset from them around 4 months ago. I waited 2 months and then decide to call and see whats up, they said that iron horse didnt make a ton of red and white frames and that if I wanted my bike now I would have to get green. I had just had surgery so I figured Id wait. About a month and a half later I called again. They said that they couldnt get any red and white ones and that I would have to take the green, at this point I didnt care so I said ok, and go-ride said that iron horse would ship the bike to them and then they would ship it to me. Another week later and I called to see what was up and they said that Ironhorse sent a seventeen inch frame in a sixteen inch box and the guy at go-ride said he would get it all figured out. I wait another month and the other day I get a phone call back saying that the people who make ironhorses frames didnt make enough sixteens and ironhorse has to make them from scratch and that would be another month. At this point I NEED a bike because I am just healing from surgery, so I am most likely going to take the medium. I am 5 foot 6 and im not so sure about the size. Could anyone tell me how they measure theyre frames and if you think I can get away with the medium. thanks and has anyone had any problems like this with Go-Ride?

That's not a problem with go-ride, it's a problem with iron horse.

Those guys have ALWAYS been up front with me with what's in stock and what their situation is. Iron horse shipping a 17" in a 16" box is lame.......but that's not go-ride's fault.

That said, I'm about 5'7" and the mediums feel fine to me.

Also, this isn't typical of Ironhorse. They're normally good about their stuff. This is probably one of those rare situations where it was just an honest to goodness mistake. It might be worth contacting IH and explain the situation. I'm sure Todd will chime in, and might try to help you out. who knows. Just keep your cool and this will all get sorted out.

This is not Go Ride's fault. An shipment of frames indeed came in labeled 16". When shipped out to a couple shops we immediately got a couple calls saying many of the 16's were actually 17's. We measured all of the frames and re-labeled the boxes as needed. So, bottom line is there were less 16's than we expected in inventory.

yea man not Go-rides fault at all, they were up front with me about my sunday. When they say when theyll be available thats what they hear from Iron Horse, not every bike company can be on time, a lot of work goes in to the releasing/building the new years bikes

your timeline doesn't make sense.

You start out with 4 months ago for the initial order.

Then 2 month later you called the first time

then another 1.5 months later you called again

then you waited a week and called again

then they called you after another month.

That's almost 5 months of "delays" since you placed your order 4 months ago. ;)

In the future, I would recommend writing down the dates that you call and follow up at least every 2 weeks. Most of the bike industry sucks with their "2 more weeks" BS. That's half the reason I work with the people that I do is because I can get something when I need it.

Edit: I was not taking a shot at IH or go ride. Look at the service you got. Todd answered the question right here.

I am definately in agreement with this sentament and with kidwoo as well here...I got my DHR stolen and have been inquiring about something to replace it for a while now...sunday was on the list.

I have been in contact with both fluidride and Go-ride about availability and rough timing. I would prefer a white as well (in 17"). The shops have been great, but seem to be having a hard time with any solid answers at all...sounds like a combo of production issues with sapa (turners are very late as well) and inventory issues with IH...and mis-labeled boxxes.

Whatever the reason..I am not going to fork over (pre-pay) thousands of dollars for a product that may or may not ever come...and without a color choice.

Definately looking at other frames now...unless any one knows of a 17" white available??

It sucks to say about a company i like and a bike i own, but it seems like IH wasnt ready for its own success. they keep putting out products people want and then are unable to deliver them when people want them. thats a big no-no in any business. your customers get pissed and wander off to other brands.

At first it seems like a way to mitigate risk ("we'll wait and see how many the market demands") but if you don't have surge capacity in place, thats just bad planning. Obviously the vagaries of Taiwanese manufacturing and international shipping are beyond my area of expertise, but maybe IH needs to hire a supply chain and logistics firm to do its dirty work.

as they say in southpark, there are people you can pay to do that. somebody with an office in town who can go to the factory and say "we need those 16 inch frames yesterday" and then stick them on the fast boat to long beach as soon as they are ready.

HELLA - sorry to hear about the problems you've had getting a 16" frame.

I'm not sure if you are dead set on just getting a frame, or a complete, but I do know of a place that might have a 16" 07 Sunday Team as a complete bike... I'll check for you to see what they have on hand just in case you want to go in that direction.

Definately not a shop issue, i've been trying to get a small Sunday frameset for awhile now too. Can anybody from IH tell us when they think smalls will be hitting shops?

if you take 'iron horse sunday' and give each letter a numerical value based on it place in the alphabet, you get 199. Divide that by 6 and you get 33.1666! Thus proving that iron horse bikes are the mark of the devil. I smell a conspiracy to defraud the public of small Sunday framesets...

For all questions about what Sunday frames are made where - check out the "Sunday" thread - everything that is pertinent is always on the first page in two massive posts.

As far as availability for small framesets - that has yet to be determined, but as soon as Todd or Dante get word about it, I'm sure they'll post some info.

Hope this helps.

I heard the same thing from quite a number of people what's up with getting a Sunday frame this year, sounds like you guys really screwed up with the forecasting or your holding back frames for some reason !!

If you're willing to try it, I'd say get the medium. I'm 5'7" on a good day, and ride the med. you should be fine.

agreed... the top tube is not huge and the wheelbase is still short enough for you

my 17" sunday has the same top tube length as my old orange 224... fraser rides the same size 224 that i rode and he is about 5'7"

the 16" sundays are really really small

I never blamed Go-ride for any of this. In a matter of fact Cris has been nothing but truthful and helpful during this whole time. He is actually in the process of possibly getting in a wc complete in small and then stripping it and send me the frame, although it is a BIG MAYBE. Otherwise im just gonna man up and try the medium, ive got really long arms ha. And I heard that since IH was short on smalls they were going to have to make them from scratch and they wouldnt be starting for another month. I just got off a small v10 and i could easily toss it around.

Sorry to derail this thread with my off topic problems I've had with Iron Horse. Great products, good employees, but the whole picture doesn't quite come together. That's why I've got 12-15 IH bikes hanging up in my warehouse, waiting for parts. Most of em never even ridden, wrong straight outta the box. Missing rotor bolts, missing axle bolts, wrong headset, you name it.
When everything's there the IH bikes take about twice as long to build as other bikes, since you really need to make sure everything's been installed right.

Step One is to get the boys at the factory to actually assemble the bikes correctly, include all the parts, quit using an eight foot wrench to put everything on, and paint the Whole Damn Bike. somebody seriously needs to crack the whip in both the taiwan and china factories.
Step two is to send the parts out in a hurry when things go bad. Most of mine have been waiting for more than 6 mos, which is utterly insane.

I want to love the company, since I love the DW-link goodness, but the constant assembly line screwups alone are enough to scare me away from ever selling Iron Horse. (I work at Performance. Don't have say in what bikes we order.) It's a love/hate thing too, since I'm really excited about the 2007 stuff. Just got a new MK III and it's sweet!

Regarding your problem:
Buy the medium. Your knees will meet the bars less often, as the small is Really Small. Don't hate Go-ride. Quit worrying about what damn color it is. And don't let what I said worry you, since the sunday really is one of the best DH bikes out there, and you're building it up from a frame anyway.

Don't do it. Really, don't do it. Fit matters above all else. If your going to plop down the extremely large coin that is a new retail DH frame, it better fit like a glove. If you were willing to hold out over something as silly as color - you should be able to show the same resolve for something that actually matters. Sure, you can ride a medium - but it won't be as fun as a small, and fun is what it's all about. I'm 5'6" and all my bikes are mediums ONLY because I'm a po' bastard that can only ride what I find dirt cheap. Everytime I sit on a small I get frame envy. As you said, they're just that much easier to toss around - which leads to greater confidence and better riding. Less of me against the bike. If I had your duckets I would be getting a different frame before buying the wrong size.

Or maybe you just ride them for a season, sell 'em off and buy another. In that case - go for it. But if you plan on keeping it for the next 3-4 seasons, hold out.

But that's just me. I'm old and bitter. :monkeydance:

I ordered a new top crown for my Fox 40 RC2 from Go-Ride. Knowing that I needed it in 3 days, I told them I would pay for over night shipping. 2 days later I got a call saying they wrote done my Credit Card number wrong, so I wouldn't have the top crown in time. Thanks to them, RISSE is getting my business.
<----Doesn't own a Go-Ride top crown.

Good luck with your Risse crown....

I do ALL my ordering through Go-Ride. They are my local bike shop. I will not order from anyone else. Ive have spent close to $20,000 at Go-Ride in the last 3 years and have NEVER had a problem. I order parts for all my buddys that dont have credit cards, so I spend a lot of money there. NO problems. They tell it how it is.

You're still blaming Go-Ride with your mind. I can feel it.:clapping:

My 2 cents:

a. Don't, don't, don't get a Med. It will be too big. You will be sad. (And it still won't be Go-Ride's fault. Although you will want to choke them)

b. Ironhorse is not misreading or underestimating it's market. They are reading it fine, and taking care of bigger guys first as they pose a greater threat. Common sense.

c. Really the bottom line is that Sundays are the hottest bike going right now, they are handmade in the US, and if you want one you're gonna wait. They are really nice, but how long are you willing to wait?

d. Go-Ride already has your deposit right? You could get an El Cuervo...they are very sick. Or you could get your $ back and get a v-10.

It's sad to hear people getting all over Go-ride, as a local I'm lucky enough to be able to walk in to the shop everyday if my bank account allows it, even when I went back to NY and needed parts when I got back they were ready when I walked in the door. Scott, Kris, Von, Joss and C.J. do an excellent job and take every customer seriously and I know they wouldn't do it any other way. Cheers JK

This is the stupidest thread about an online retailer period. Go-Ride should be last on the list of online stores to get lip about this. It is completely out of their hands and controls on what a manufacture sends them or what it is labeled. I don't know where to even start with how stupid you must thing it all sounds. You're whining about a mistake that THE company made and owned up to, but instead bad-mouthing Go-Ride.com.

I have always had the BEST service from Go-ride.com. So much so infact I order just about every single part I can from them. Anything and everything. I'm cheap and I'll admit that, but I've never once asked them to match anything even though I imagine they would, I'd rather give them my business knowing that if I have a problem or question they're nice enough to answer it. I can't step foot in their store.....but placing orders, getting things here, and always prompt on everything earns my business every time. They really are a stand up online shop.

The world's not perfect you know.....

I have bough SO many things from them including two frames. My Ventana is the best thing I have ever owned. Never ONE problem with ANYTHING. Really, I don't have one grip with them, except they are not located in Amarillo.

What I hate is there is no one at Go-Ride who speaks my language. If they are going to sell stuff in the US, they should hire someone who know how to speak American.
