so i was just thinking about some of the best courses i've ridden in the past and came to a conclusion that i have 3 that really just rocked

1.Whiteface 5k course: absolutely amazing isnt enough, this course had everything. i liked expecially the speed way up top and way down at the bottom. both sections just went by in a blur. great fun.

2.mount Snow 05: Both Expert and Sport courses. Another great course, it was the first time id ridden the expert but i loved it. i must say it scared the living **** out of me up top. but i liked the speed and overall flow of the course. the yardsale was alright, luckily i didnt hurt myself in it. but i think its better out than in.

3.Snowshoe 05: I was disappointed to hear norba wouldnt return in 06. the course was an absolute slop fest. i think after a whole run i might of had 20 lbs of mud stuck to my bike. it was crazy. the course was so muddy but was very enjoyable to race. Snowshoe in general is a great place. if you get a chance, go there.

what are some of your favorite courses and why?

1) Scheiwtzer '05
2)Durango
3)Westridge run at Snow Summit, Big Bear.
4)Brian Head national course
5)Angelfire

I think snowshoe would be fun but everytime I race there it is stupid muddy, I can't handle the mud. :nopity:

Durango would top my list but I rode it back when I was just beginning to race (04) I would probably enjoy it more now.

I consider Mt St Anne USA, so mid 90's MSA tracks were the definitive DH track...and like Fraser said, Crystal Mtn Wa. course was pretty perfect. Old Vermont tracks, Vail world cup. When comparing Euro to USA race courses over the years, euro wins hands down.

Deer Valley NMBS has been pretty good the last couple of years, not that much different than I remember it being in '01 and still ripping: lots of rocks, steep enough you don't HAVE to pedal but still can (and should), varied terrain.

Durango. Always good, little bit of everything: fast wide open off camber, drops, roots, trees, rocks, dust, you name it I think that track has it packaged into 4 minutes of goodness.

Telluride MSC: Same basic concept as the WC track from '03, with some parts changed up here and there for variety. Short, fast, rough, too the point. Bueno!

Telluride. All other MSC venues (except AF) need to take notes...
OTOH, Telluride gets a big thumbs down for closing every trail from mid-mtn down into town last year. That fireroad blows...

Yeah, I always liked that one. I won sport class there one year and almost died doing it. Huge waterbars, bomb-hole filled grass slopes and half assed course taping (cutting corners was basically encouraged) translated to dangerous fun.

I did a race at Tenney a few years ago and loved it- just my kind of course from what I remember.

I smell a poll coming on...and I think Mt. Snow 98 would be king!
That's my vote........sport/beginners only rode the bottom 2/3rds but it was incredible....

Was my first DH race and it changed my life forever.....

The best course in the US last year was most likely Whiteface. Epic

The best course I have ever ridden was Mt Snow, '98.

I had a ****-ton of fun on the Mammoth course the first year Lou built it. Was that '98 as well?

The course has everything. Super fast sections, slow sections, rocks, roots, jumps, drops, tree sections, wide open ski run, and a few ladder bridges here and there! 9 minute course with 2300 vertical feet. Doesn't get any better than that.

I love Keystone but I think it is too long to be considered one of the best tracks. Super fun but I think most would agree it's just too long. If they would change the bottom section (Wild Thing, etc) then it has some serious potential in this poll.

what about the DH at boyne mt in Michigan... can't remember the year. was it 95/6?!
It wasn't at Boyne Mountain. It was at Shuss Mountain (sand dune).

Anyway, the pro DH course there was way better than Wisconsin. At least it was downhill and paid money to practically show up. There were even spectators. That said, it's the Midwest. The XC couse at Shuss was awesome. The favorite of many pro riders. Ask Tinker or Tomac.
