Dude, I live here and love it. Just saying your logic is a bit flawed.

For some, hordes of idiots and crappy gov't isn't desirable, but for others, nice weather and fun stuff supercedes all. Just a matter of preferences.
are taking s.s, seriously?

I've been going to Santa Barbara City College for over a year, and am starting actual college there after the summer. Maybe I'll go to Cal Poly eventually.

You should come SB and ride with me. Almost everytime I go street riding or jumping, I end up riding myself. :D

Santa Cruz is cool, but all that poison oak isn't so good for me.

If you want to live in Colorado and are willing to pay $30k for school I'd look at Colorado College and the University of Denver. I wanted to leave Colorado Springs so I went to DU.

College hockey is way better than college football.

if college is 30K/yr now, by the time my kids are ready (in 12 years), it'll probably be 100K/yr.

maybe i should cancel that HDTV order. :twitch:

my sister goes to boulder and doesn't want to come home during the holidays. Her housing complex has their own personal chef, and the regular food there im told is amazing. A little pricey but if it works for you ide go for it. I would have gone if I had been able to tour the campus.

No one seems to have asked one of the all important questions...what do you plan on majoring in?

And Zark pretty much nailed it on SB. The town is absolute tits.

The Ito
I kind of tried to hint earlier that such questions *might* be important, but it looks like only MBC noticed.

Remember I'm only a Jr, and just finished that year... but I'm thinking either the average Business/Managerial Economics, or Social Sciences... Cali Poly SLO offers both of those as well from what I have heard.

Well, for what it is worth, UCSB is best known for the sciences (Bio, Chem, Engineering), not sure how it ranks up as a business school, but from my experience it is primarily a science and math school.

The Biz/Econ dept is pretty good from what I understand.

That's what I have been told.... I'm semi-leaning towards Polytech SLO.... I think if I go there, I might get a bit more $$$ from my father as he has some sort of memory of that school.
Word of advice: don't lean towards a school until you're accepted. Methinks you're about a year ahead of yourself. Apply to as many schools as you can afford, and see what happens.

I digress...most everyone who has lived in SLO leaves with some good memories. Excuse my desktop; it's the only pic of SLO available on my work cpu.

Hey man, I'd highly recomend taking a year off in the town you'll later be going to school in. It'll really let you adapt to the town, and once you're working some crappy job for a year, school will seem soooo much more desireable.

CPSLO isn't bad, and neither is SB. SB is flat, with way more STD's and attitude, but SLO is a smaller school and smaller place, with more of a small town feel. The SLO and SB are only 100 miles apart, so if you want, you can sample one while living in the other.

I'm going to apply to about 10 schools, and I agree, once the acceptance letters comes in, then I will ask more questions.
Ahh, it seems like you're already of the right mindset. Hell, I wish I was that far ahead of the game when I was still in high school.

If you're looking for good schools with small town atmospheres, the Central Coast of CA is hard to beat. Lucky for you, if and when you visit, there won't be a lack of people happy and willing to show you around. Good luck with your search, enjoy it.

If your doing business, I recommend either Econ or Finance focused. International management is cool too. But stay away from general "bus mgmt", it's really generic and should be a minor if anything.

no, it means that you can't become a resident of the state of california while going to ucsb. that means you are being forced to bend over and pay out-of-state tuition for 4 years.
Is the UC system not part of the WUIE (wooey) program? I forget exactly what that stands for but it is a western statues university exchange program. If you qualify through grades, you can get close to in state tuition costs at an out of state college. We live in WA, we pay the same for NAU(Arizona) as we would UW. I know Oregon, WA, ID and MT all have colleges in this program.

Interesting but priceseliger is from the great state of Texas.

WUE is a student exchange program that enables students from 14 western states to attend universities in any of the other participating states without paying steep out-of-state tuition fees. Participating states include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
