Reviving this thread : )

Any news on when the lift is going to be open? Regardless with all the snow they got it sounds like the trails at the top will be very messy.

Livin it up in the O.C.
August seems like a perfect time to go. Cranx is over with, big crowds are dying off due to back to school and Bonzo open fo sho. Thats when we are planning our trip anyway.

I went the 2nd week of Sept a few years back and it was awesome. Not too hot, almost NO lift line, and the trails were nice and tacky.

I love Whistler in the September timeish too, its a little cooler, more likely to get some rainy days to smooth out the trails...

Summers always fun though, biking, swimming, oogling hotties (why are there sooo many?)

Damm that snow picture is scaring me right now. Will be there for part of my honeymoon June 2-9th. I read that the lower mountain would be open though? Does anyone know if that is true and if so what runs are on the lower mountain that are worth while.

Oh, okay. On the lower mountain there's A-line, B-line, Dirt Merchant, Hornet, Monkey Grips, The Boneyard, Biker-X course, etc. I went early in the year, two years ago, so I was only able to ride the lower trails.

if you are riding with your wife then crank it up and b-line may be in order. or if she is a good rider or you are riding by yourself. all the black diamond and double black diamond trails are super fun. be sure to check out clown shoes, detroit rock city, schleyer, joyride, and of course aline and dirt merchant.

Yeah...Lower mountain is all open...Last update said that Dirt Merchant and Easy Does It were still pretty snowed in (Should be better this weekend cause of all the rain and warmer temps). But the other 11 or 12 trails are wide open.

I think the plan will be to ride with her in the morning then I hit it alone in the afternoon. I'm glad you told me about crank it up and B-line, it will make her feel better to know she can get started on something easier then a-line. Of course it all depends on whether I get my US Passport by this Saturday. Turned the paperwork in the first week of February and they are scrambling right now to get it to me.

Yeah. Basically anything that's a "Blue" trail (they're all color coded just like ski runs) is a good trail for someone that's comfortable on a mountainbike. B-line and Crank It Up are awesome Blue trails. Last year I took my wife who's never been on a big full squish bike up there and that's what we ran for the beginning of the day. 'Twas awesome.

Sounds good. I have already learned the old law " If moma ain't happy nobody is happy" and having an easier trail to ride will keep her happy. Did your wife ride a DH bike? If so, what did she think afterwards? Mine rides a 4 inch kona kikipu and I want her to try a big bike with the slack angles and all.
