My Fine-line frame has removable shock mounting brackets and I'm curious as to what the change in rate or feel would be if I were to raise the front shock mount position as shown in the edited photo? I could have the bikes maker Dan Stapleton machine me a couple more brackets that had additional mounting positions so I could tinker a bit.

The actual geometry would remain the same but would the change in shock position/angle have any effect? Thanks in advance!

Yes, very trippy indeed...if you're 5 years old! lol
Seriously though, I'd love some feedback on this question. My suspension is a paralell linkage very similar to the Canfield F-1.

that would make it slightly more linear, less progressive feeling, i would question more the moment arm you would create, more load perpendicular to the down tube, which tubes don't like so much...but its probably nothing to stress over...

Who makes that frame? The links will keep the same arc, so that will not change. I would say that the shock will be less progressive in which will lead to a softer feel “Soak up Small Bumps better”. Its worth playing around with.

Thanks for your input guys. I'm going to get hold of Dan Stapleton who makes the Fine-Line frme and ask him to make me up an extra set of brackets to mount the shock. Should be fun trying a new set up. I love to tinker!

Here's another edited photo showing the lower links path...
What will happen towards the end of the travel in each position? Does raising the mounting holes make the suspension any different regarding the last stages of travel?
