There are so many choices...sx trail, bottlerocket, nomad, bullit.....I can't decide which is the best. It has to be able to accept dc. What are your opinions?

the travel limit on the sxt is 175mm declared by specialized...if you want to follow their rules. It feels much better than a nomad, bullit, or even a bottlerocket. The bullit has to small of a wheelbase in my opinion. And the geo of the sxt feels much more comfortable over the nomad. As for the bottlerocket...ehh tough choice, but the sxt takes the cake.

I personally think the bikes you looking at are quite different.
I use a SX trail for my full on DH race bike.
It rides just like other DH race rigs, with just less travel.
But it is still a plush riding bike with a low BB and slack angles.
This bike is perfect for what I am using it for.
I have buddies who ride Bottlerockets, and they are more comparable to shorter travel slalom/jump rigs. A great bike,
but different from the SX trail.
And the Nomad is a kick ass all mountain bike and it should be compared to other lightish 6 inch rigs designed for long trail rides.
I don't know that much about the new bullits except they look nice.
Here is a pic of mine.

i race dh but I am kinda small and I do some freeride, but I already have a dc fork on my big dh bike and I don't need to buy another fork.

someone said that steve peat races a nomad with a dc on the real smooth courses. I don't remember who said it though.

So uhh...how did you go about mounting that LG1? I tried following the directions, and that didn't work so hot, then I tried using the ISCG tabs and couldn't rotate the idler far away from the pulley. I ended up going to town with a dremel and extending the ISCG bolt holes. Works now.

Here is my choice!
This bike is the funnest thing on two wheels man.
Can be set up with 6 and 6 with pretty slack angles or 8 and 8 with even more slack angles :)
Super fun little DH/FR bike!
Sorry the pic is small, I don't know how to make them as big as the one above :(

It bolts right up with the adaptor.
I can't remember if you have to flip the adaptor or not, but it bolted right up. Now I did have to dremel the hell out of the taco bashguard because it was so close to the frame.
That guide works perfect though.

Get a SWD 6 Gun with the geo you want and still have enough cash to give it a sweet build. If you don't want steel, a lot of guys around here race a Yeti ASX.

I went from a Demo 9 to an 07 sx trail w/ 66 rc2x and could not be happier. I use it mainly at Diablo and it handles everything from drops to rockgardens to fast trails like tempest. I have tried an older bighit-24"rear wheel, gemini, bullit, demo9 and the sxt is my favorite by far.

i had to do the same with my sxt and srs guide. Specialized's iscg tabs are off by a bit.

Hmm, I'll try that out. Also, sorry about the incoherent babble in my last post...typed it in a hurry.

Thanks.

Thats because Spesh are using ISCG 'old' whereas there is a new ISCG '05 'which has a different spacing. I understand E13 produce guides in both the old and the 05 format.
spec uses the old ISCG but you need to use e13's wide spacing back plate. Very few frames use the ISCG 05 spacing, it is much larger. E13 has Old ISCG, Old wide ISCG, Old extra wide ISCG for the M3 and the ISCG 05 back plates.
Even with the Wide Old ISCG the holes still need to be dremeled out. According to E13, this is because Spec's tabs are off on the SXT.

im pretty sure that someone posted it up on ridemonkey, but it was a little while back. try searching for it and see if you can find it. i know it had the boxxer wc up front and im pretty sure it was syndicate color scheme.

The old world
Giant Reign X1 or X0... very similar to the SX trail, but cheaper and have a better suspension design, IMO
Word! Did you ever end up buying one?

I have an X1 and it's an incredible bike, especially when you consider the price. You could easily use it as a light downhill rag, even with the stock set up. The only thing that i would change since i prefer a slacker head angle would be to put a DC on it, which is what you want to do. I think I would prefer the ReignX to most of the other bikes mentioned (except the Bullit) even if they all cost the same, which they don't.

Edit: Didn't see that someone mentioned the Cannondale Perp... now that's a bike i could get excited about, even if it's a bit on the chunky side.

I vote for the SX also. I've been running the Enduro as a light duty DH for about 3 years now and I love it. Low and slack, just how i like it. Cna be built up to 35 pounds easilly even with a DC fork and no compromise build. Mine weighs ~33.5 with a rock solid build and SC fork. I just got a ton of '07 XTR components as well as a new fork ('08 36 Float) and some Easton Havoc wheels (replacing Deemax), after I put all that stuff on it will weigh about 32, or so I'm guessing.

From the owner of the Boxxer-Ride equipped Nomad:

The Sugarfree V10 is mine, and its awsome... Have bought an 888 ATA for this season, its lighter than the Boxxer Ride and adjustable. The BB height is 14 3/8 with 555mm axl to crown fork height, and HA about 66.5 degree... I believe the ATA has minimum 565mm axl to crown height, it should then be close to 66 degree angle...

A guy I know rides a Commencal Mini DH with a 2002 Boxxer onnit and loves it! He also owns a Nomad and a Commencal Meta 4x and says that Bossard's suspension system outperforms the VPP with its better traction. I hear only good words about the different Commencal models from a lot of different owners.
