I changed the oil in my 07 66 and it only had;

-170 ml in rebound leg-real dirty
-190 ml in compression leg-still clean

Zoke says max oil height is 210 ml
Josh at Go-Ride says max oil height is 180ml

I dont always trust Zoke on oil heights so I call around.

I removed the springs, tipped the fork upside down and drained the oil. I then flipped it back over and cycled the rods to get all the oil out. Then I tipped it over again to get the oil out from the rods.

Can you get all the oil out without removing the rods?

Anyone know what the max oil height is for the 07 66 RC2X?

I have had my super T hanging upside down for 2 days to get all the oil out. I cycled the stanchions, but not the hscv rod. I'll do that and see if oil comes out.

Marz USA says 190 - 195ml for the RC2X. I usually get this kind info from Windwave, the UK distributor (here http://www.windwave.co.uk/documents/techinfo/2007 oil level chart.pdf ) as they seem to be more forthcomming with tech info...they say 190ml.

I think it helps to unscrew and remove the bleed needles (what the adj knobs turn)to get more oil out.

Every marz I have owned has fouled the rebound oil very fast. I think it is a result of non-annodized internals that are not smooth machined surfaces..the piston and cartrage body wear together..as for the magnet, all the internals are aluminum..non magnetic.

Yep that's spot on, all my marzocchi rebound carts have fouled the oil quickly as well - except when I bought an aftermarket 888 rebound cartridge. Marzocchi anodize their aftermarket cartridges (mine was blue), and while the oil got a little dirty it was still relatively clean.

No idea why they don't just anodize all their cartridges, or at least in the highend forks.

Marzocchi Bomber Factory Fork Oil comes stock in all bomber forks. It is synthetic and is labeled as being 7.5wt. While this oil can be ordered in the US, Marzocchi is basically repackaging Golden Spectro Cartridge Fork Fluid (125/150, Very Light). This oil is rated at 26.1 cSt@40C/5.25 cSt@100C/VI 150. A very similar oil to this is Maxima Racing Fork Fluid (125/150, 7wt). It would be preferred to run a mix of Red Line Synthetic Fork Oil of 37% Red Line (Light, Yellow) & 63% Red Line (Medium, Red). In the past I have found Marzocchi forks to work far better with a thicker oil in them.

Mixed Redline 5wt and 10wt as described here;

I ended up going with 180ml for now. I might have to add a little later but for now it feels good.
