Burly and I are going out west in august and I am in charge of finding lodging for whistler for the time we're there.

He just said to make sure they allow the bikes to be in the room. I've called a few places and they said no but they had storage. (um, no).

So my question is, does anyone know of a good place to stay where we can take our bikes in the room?

Oh, and I seem to be being a little princessy and don't want to stay in a dump. Burly would be happy camping, and most of the time I would too, but for some reason I would like a nicer place to stay on this trip.:greedy:

I would just call Whistler Central Reservations. Just tell them what you are looking for and they should be able to hook you up.

If you want to go outside the Whistler controlled properties, you can try alluradirect.com. Although these tend to be properties geared for larger groups.

I've used Alluradirect.com with great results for everything from 2 to 12 people. It puts you directly in touch with the condo owners. There are a lot of empty condos all summer and the owners are usually willing to bend their rules about bikes to get some rent. Just be clear up front that you have other options if they refuse to let you keep bikes inside - because you do. Locked bikes get stolen from so-called "secure" bike parking up there all the time, don't risk it.

i've never had a problem with storage rooms as long as you have a good lock. they are usually onlly able to be opened by the hotel employees and are pretty safe. we're staying at the whistler village inn and suites from aug 10th to the 18th which looks like a great hotel and is really close to the lifts for a great price.

I have had team riders as well as other friends looks plenty of bikes at Whistler in storage rooms.

One day 15 bikes were stolen from the same room at a hotel there. I was heavily involved with the recovery effort with the RCMP, Vancouver Police, Whistler Police, Quebec Provincial Police etc.

Only 2 bikes were recovered, and it has since been handed off to the organized crime division of the RCMP.

Moral of the story: Don't ever use a bike storage room in Whistler.

most hotels say that you cant bring your bike into the room, but we ALWAYS do it and have NEVER had a problem.

Try vrbo.com

you can email condo owners directly and low ball them.

The 4 Seasons has a killer storage room as it is monitored by a human and cameras 24/7. Most jagoffs that stay there are too busy playing effin' golf and stuffing themselves with gravy and frites so when we were there mine were the only bikes in there.

When are you guys going to arrive up there? I'd prolly be down for a day trip up there to get a couple runs with the burly one...and spouse if so inclined.

Oh yeah, take bikes into your room. The Whistler Cascade Lodge is nice. That's where I stayed for a week last year. Just make sure to get a first floor room and just roll the bikes right by the "secure" room...never had an issue. Plus my room had a full kitchen so I was able to save a bit.

er, thanks for the help fellas. Jen already got a room, but I dunno where.
We rented an H3
It was either that or a ford escape, and those things are worthless.

Squirrel, where are you located exactly? We'll be spending a couple days in Seattle and in Portland as well.
