Oh man, Lopes interview after the race at Champery was embarrasing. There's being professional and supporting your sponsors, and there's being a sell-out with a big corperations finger up your ass. I'd have thought a man of his experience would have handled the media better.

Ever wonder why he makes more money than all the other guys? Ever seen a RC, Bubba, Reed interview....they all went to same media training camps...lame but people paying the bills love it.

Exactly. There is a reason that the old man is still one of the top paid riders in the world. People who yell "sell out" are simply jealous.

Seriously...every MX guy I've seen in a post race interview ends with, starts with or says the phrase "I'd like to thank all my sponsors...[insert 40 companies here]"

Good coverage, by the way. Watched the Champery footage. Hill was nuts. Right before he crashed he had some crazy drift going; looked like that crash was going to be much worse.

for some reason it plays in a quicktime window and only the first commercial, nothing more. any way to fix this?
Same for me here... I love my Mac but when websites put out content in Windows Media format there ain't much you can do about it. Looks like Cycling.tv has switched to a more universal format for their TdF coverage: Flash video.

Because that isn't flash video, it's a ****ty WMV file.
hmmm... wonder why the same people who insist al the race movies are sped up have not turned up here to accuse eurosport of the same thing, especially wth the clips from MSA

oh wait... because the best riders in the world ARE that rediculously fast :clapping:

After just watching that clip of Hill @ Champery (particularly right before his crash) I'm speechless. That is the most off tap thing I've seen in racing ever.

incredible, I wasn't around for nico but it's hard to believe anyone could ever come close to that champery ride.
That was pretty ridiculous. He got squirrel-ie a couple of times right before that crash and saved it, but it seems like those near slide-outs might have broken his concentration just enough to cause the ensuing crash on the next corner. The thing I really don't understand is how he didn't blow through the safety netting and down into that ravine after he crashed. I watched that segment about 10 times, and I'm guessing he just got really lucky and caught a bit of a lip/berm as he was sliding out, but who knows?? Maybe, in addition to mastering the art of making nearly impossible high speed turns, he's also mastered the art of making nearly impossible high speed turns while sliding on his ass. :-)

Yeah, you're telling me, coming into that corner he was going SOO rediculously hot, you can see how far he boosts that little gapper before it compared to the guys even in the dry. It's also nuts to see that entering that corner he was going considerably faster than peat was in the dry. I've watched it over and over and it's pretty obvious he would have won the race had it not been for that crash. It's mind boggling. The fact that he saved himself from flying off that ravine (which looks like it should have happened) shows not only the amount of control he actually has, but the pure skill it takes to ride well and in turn crash well.

That was absolutely amazing. The way he was flying, I can't help but wonder if it was not a mental error that put him into that corner so hot, but that he actually believed that he could make it at that speed. He looked committed to me until the last moment.

Thats was the most painful thing I have ever tried to watch. IE is stupidly lame and MS can go to hell. It took me close to an hour to watch it with the damn thing buffering every time the ads updated.
