Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
But it's not a "rush to judgement", right? I mean, the NFL suspends players not for specific crimes, but rather that they were involved in a situation that the NFL finds inappropriate.

Based on other suspensions (Pacman, Tank), he should be immediately suspended for the first two games.
Don't want to Rush to Judgement was the jist of the NFL press release regarding why no suspension at this time.

I was perusing the NFL schedule this year and the prime-time game for Thanksiving is in Atlanta.

That'll be about the time Vick's trial starts  I wonder if they'll reschedule another game?

Pacman had a history of bad behavior same with Tank.

Vicks situation is different. There is at least a little doubt if he was acutally invloved in these crimes. Vick doesn't really have the same history as those two clowns.

While I don't agree with it the NFL has to at least wait until they get a few more details and then........BLAM have a year off.

What about the Ron Mexico and the Airport in Florida stuff?

I'm not saying he deserves more than a two game suspension, but based on precedent, the NFL must suspend him or they face a lot of crap from the NFLPA.

Since when was unknowingly giveng a girl a fake name and herpes a crime?

The police dropped all charges in Shaving Cream gate.

Tank had muliple arrest for illegal gun possesion. In an odd twist it was multiple animal neglect calls that led to his stint in Cook County.

Pacman was arrested several times for assault and other crap. And since his suspension he has been arrested again in TN for driving with false plates and a invalid DL.

I think the NFL will act once some of the details come out.

Why do I keep sending things to "Report post?" I'm so stupid

NEW YORK (AP) — Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until the league reviews the dogfighting charges against him.
"While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy," Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback.

The NFL said Vick would still get his preseason pay and Goodell told the Falcons to withhold any disciplinary action of their own until the league's review was completed.

the NFL and the Falcons have been "privately" asking Vick to do this on his own. He refused, so now they're doing it.

That probably means the Falcons weren't going to do jack sh1t about it.

Why didn't the NFL either
a) not say anything last week
b) do this last week

Seems smart to me to step back, consider some things and not make a knee jerk reaction. If public outcry had not been so bad, they probably wouldnt have done anything. My guess is they wanted to gauge the public response and then adjust accordingly. NFL does things right IMO.

Nah they messed up.

Last week

And the league, it seems, is inclined to let him play.

After consulting with the Falcons, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and top league officials agreed Wednesday to let Vick play as the legal process determines the facts.

A person with knowledge of the meeting, who requested anonymity so the case would not be influenced, said the NFL would stick to that position for the foreseeable future, despite its new personal conduct policy.
Do you think that 3 days is the foreseeable future?

Last week's statement.

We are disappointed that Michael Vick has put himself in a position where a federal grand jury has returned an indictment against him. We will continue to closely monitor developments in this case, and to cooperate with law enforcement authorities. The activities alleged are cruel, degrading and illegal. Michael Vick's guilt has not yet been proven, and we believe that all concerned should allow the legal process to determine the facts.
And this week

"While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy,"
Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until the league reviews the dogfighting charges against him.
What have they been doing for the last week? Sitting with their thumbs up their asses? NFL lawyers don't work weekends? I was able to read and digest the indictment in about 10 minutes.

They messed up and now they are finally getting it right.

If Vick plays this season, I might be inclined to go the Atlanta at Cardinals game on Dec 23 if only to boo the livin' snot out of the Falcons. If only they visited San Diego so that I wouldn't have to make such a long drive.

Uh oh.....

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20035354/

One of Michael Vick’s co-defendants pleaded guilty Monday to federal dogfighting conspiracy charges in a plea agreement with prosecutors.

Tony Taylor, 34, who will be sentenced Dec. 14, said he was not promised any specific sentence in return for his cooperation with the government.
Cooperation with the government means Vick is so screwed.

ah. must make a note: "never get with any lady who has been with Mike Vick"

ridemonkey is now one of my major sources of useless celebrity data points.
Also, never get with a girl who is associated with any professional football player, especially cheerleaders. This is from someone with insider knowledge.

Can't compare with a big black cock?
Perhaps. She said it is like that because a child from a pro football player is a girl's meal ticket.

Case in point. Cameron Byrn (sp?), the mother of Matt Leinert's baby, is getting something like $13,000/month in child support.

And then there was one....

With the two remaining co-defendants in Michael Vick’s federal dogfighting case scheduling hearings to enter plea agreements, the controversial Atlanta Falcons quarterback reportedly was weighing his options Monday concerning a plea bargain.
A source close to the investigation told ESPN that Vick has until Friday to make up his mind whether to accept a plea agreement. Otherwise a superseding indictment will be filed and Vick will face at least two more federal dogfighting charges.

I know it's bad, but why are there federal dogfighting laws? Don't the feds have there hands full with other things that could matter more? It's like the whole federal doping stuff, why bother?
