At this point who gives a ****, they are all dirtbags. They should just allow it all and see who ruptures an artery first. Now that would make the Tour fun to watch...

"It's a sprint to the finish between Gigantor and Humongazoid, oh and what's this, Gigantor's quads just exploded and Humongazoid slipped in the mess, here comes Stupendous to take the win."

"Astana tour not success. They go home and be execute."

Who was the first person to get dropped by the peloton? The first guy from Stage 1...someone must've fallen off the back. Whoever that guy is, something tells me that he is the only clean guy in le tour.

I'm disappointed but will still watch. In fact (cough cough), I think I feel a little (sneeze) sickness coming on (cough cough). I'll probably be late for work tomorrow...

EDIT: Not "Just as excited" so not voting.

Are these guys that stupid to use doping techniques from the dark ages?? It's so easy to test for different blood or exogenous carbon from synthetic drugs. I hope Dr. Ferrari gives Vino back his money- I have a feeling he's going to need it.

Autually I'm enjoying the fact that the Darling of the French Media [ie North American Witchhunters] who were in the middle of giving Vino a written BJ just got caught with his pants down and made the Frenchies news media look like the idiots that they are

So I suppose you are also down on football, baseball, basketball, golf, WWF, Governor Arnie, and Sylvester Stallone? At least cyclists have the excuse that they are actually trying to do something difficult.

If its so easy then why is he only the second person to test positive? The list from the Spanish bust has around 50 names, all (I believe) doing blood doping and an assortment of other products. It's pretty obvious Ivan Basso blood doped and he never tested positive.

velonews has an excellent article on it (http://www.velonews.com/news/fea/12924.0.html), but any biologist/medical field person knows using someone else's blood will yeild different proteins that you can test for. At least use your own blood- that's much harder to detect. I find it hard to believe Dr. Ferrari would give such bad advice.

I think part of the reason few people get caught are many use thier own blood and the testing is very expensive (the mass spec carbon test is reported to be $400), so they probably only test the winners.

I know there are masking agents, but I think they are drug specific.

I am curious about RAsmussen's suspicion and that Biopure product he allegedly used.

Actually, you're right. I don't like most organized sports at all and none of the ones you mentioned even come close to my "Will stop on them while flipping channels on TV" list. As for doing something difficult...what ever happened to busting your ass instead of a vein and making an honest effort? How about all the guys who rode the Tour in the years before blood doping became the new black?

same for the rest of the Astana team. That really sucks for them if they weren't involved.
Until cycling clamps down on this crap and dishes out some REAL punishment and consequences (most other sports for that matter) I say they are all guilty by association. Just assume that the rider you are watching is doping and drugged up. Then turn off the TV.

Once the support dries up, so will the riders. As long as people pay attention and keep watching/rooting, they'll keep cheating.

Fvck em. I'm going to get into televised curling or chess, I think they might cheat less.

During the day showing, Strong Man contests follow the tour- that's a clean sport I could learn to love!

In defense of the governing body, which I usually blame, I must admit that transfusions can't be tested until after their done, therefore, how can they put systems in place (other than post testing) to prevent transfusions?? A rider could go all year until the big race and then transfuse. I almost think they should be patting themselves on the back if they truly caught Vino.

It's not as if these guys are doping instead of training...one without the other doesn't make sense and wouldn't work. Also, doping didn't come about because of a change in mentality. Guys do what they can to get ahead. Now, it's just more easily available.

Oh, I get that part. I know that doping and training go hand in hand and that these guys are doing whatever they think they can get away with to get ahead. They've been doing it for decades and it's not going to stop any time soon. For every new way to cheat they'll eventually come up with a way to detect it which fuels the search for new ways to cheat. I just think it ruins the essence of competition and I choose not to participate in a tainted contest at any level.

to stop doping there has to be a major change in the attitudes of the riders. they need to realize that by doping they are tarnishing the legacy of all the great riders who rode the tour without cheating. When someone cheats they can't be compared to anyone who has ridden the same race.
Cheating and not getting caught is not winning.

The same goes for football, baseball and every other sport. At least cycling has a 2 year ban for the first offense and a lifetime ban for the second (as far as I know the NFL's punishment is a "cheating class" for the first offense followed by a 4 game suspension for the second)

this seems to be the purging season the sport has needed to get the dopers outed and eliminated.

does make you wonder about the recent past champions.

I think you are looking at the wrong side of the plate. Riders/players/athletes, while they may do it for the money, do it for the glory also. If they stop doping they become normal and the fans get bored. Go back and watch hockey or football from pre 70's. Everyone is a step slower, quite a bit smaller and everything seems like slow motion (ok ok...the one or two players per league were AWESOME, but compare that to today where every team has a roster of superstars?). Could the fans of today watch that, I doubt it. The pressure is from both sides which is why all athletes dope.

Even if the players wanted to stop, they might as well retire because the fical fan will stop watching, money will dry up and etc.

****, imagine watching the home run stretch and only one player could get to 50...the average mean is 20 and the top players are topping 30 to 40?..."fans" can complain all they want about the doping problem, but they helped create the problem.

And to answer the question, I am a cynic and already expect it from pros. It doesn't ruin my tour in the least.

^ yeah, but that's baseball.

NFL has been working the issue for a while and it's gotten better while play has maintained an exciting level.

Vinokourov did manage a joke about his situation. "I heard that I made a transfusion with my father's blood," Vinokourov said. "That's absurd, I can tell you that with his blood, I would have tested positive for vodka."
At least he has a future in stand up comedy. Kinda like the Yakov Smirnov of cycling. Except Vinokourov is funnier.

Or have the players and drugs gotten better?...

To be honest I don't disagree, early to mid 90's and later 80s were chalked full of really freaky bodybuilders with pads. It has gotten better, but I still don't believe they are completely clean.

Not disagreeing, just a difference of noticability. Being a true team sport (football) in that you work with your team on almost every play, better team play, coaching and just overall performance may offset the drugs, batters (baseball), while in a team sport, leave it all at the plate on their own. Your team can't come help you if you take a mistep at the plate, if you miss, you suck for that minute.
