Should I kill them?

So same time last month I take my car in to the shop because the engine was running really rough. So They rebuild the top end of the engine, but it took three weeks for them to do it. =$3700
I get the car back and only drive fifteen miles befor it starts doing the same thing. = -$1400 & two more days + a gauren tee that i will be able to drive it without any problems.
Last night I was on my way to Teluride and the fcvker dies in the midle of 285.

Burt is gettin a new ssa hole torn in today.

What is it, I had the same thing with my 94 4runner(it's the v6 so the head gaskets have a tendency to go out). I ended up paying for $5000 of repairs, the shop said it was in perfect running condition after I spent 1200 with them the first time.

What the hell Toyota is it?

I put a brand new engine with lifetime warranty (unlimited mileage) in my 4Runner for $2800. I did the same thing in my Toyota truck for $1200. Oregon Engine Rebuilders Rocks!

The V6 is a lot more work for very little added HP. Switching the 4Runner to a 22re would have been a pain though.

Umm if you paid $3700 and it didn't fix the problem, then they better fix the problem for free. If I drop $3700 on my engine then have the same problem, then some blowhard tells me I have to spend another $1400 on repairs I would throw a **** fit.

The nerve of that guy to tell you after you just dropped almost 4k to fix your car that the problem is still there.

Seriously, for 5k you probably could've had a very nice brand new motor...
He SHOULD have gotten a brand new motor for that much. Most Toyota crates are less than $3500 or so (unless you are talking 2JZ or something cool).

you shouldn't kill them, you should take them to court. That's ludicrous to pay twice for the same repair, and not have it repaired...they'll fix it for you pretty quick if you threaten court and have a good case...

yeah, you did get owned on that though...should have ebayed a new head for $100.....

How can you tell that? A blocked cat will make the car go REALLY REALLY slow before it dies, not run roughly.

Honestly I don't think he's explained the problem nearly enough to make that call.

My honda would get hot and then run rough as well as slow. Changed out the blocked cat and it works just fine.

Its a toyota.
WOW. They took you for a RIDE man! You could have EASILY bought an reman engine on ebay and found a local mechanic to put it in for 1800 tops.

But by the way, I'm selling some old bike parts...an used SDG saddle that I'd like to get $150.00 and a Rock Shox Judy fork, needs a rebuild, that I could let go for only $750.00. Let me know!

jkjk that sucks what happened to you!

Ask them when they are going to install the new engine. for what you have paid, and "need" to pay still, they should have installed a re-manufactured engine.
Is this a dealer or just a shop?

I didnt. They gave back $1400 because they gaurente their work. but that was for the second run. My thinking the third time was that it was still the same issue or the forgot to re-connect somthing. And i took it to the dealer because my regular mechanic screwed me over before.

take them to court!!!!...

i just rebuilt the engine on my sister´s toyota (in my garage). it took me 3 weeks (working solo on my days off, including the time i spent shopping for parts).

new pistons, rings, checked tolerances on everything, had it machined and dipped, new pumps, belts and little bits..... way under $1000 (i did it for free though), rebuilt the starter as well.
you got taken for a ride.
