Just got in now actually, and nope. I was there, but cam crashed on the road and i was behind a fence on the grass. He complained i was in the way, and the judges (who were across from me, told him no way). Maybe he looked at me instead of where he was going or something, but i certainly wasn't in his way.
Yeah...it's like he tried to turn around and point the finger of blame, but it was pretty clear---even in real time, that he just washed the hell out on the dirt.

On a sidenote: I was like "Check it out...there's Fraser"

it was clear most of the riders hated that course, especially the last drop.
I talked to a couple of them before a few days ago, and they were not digging the course at all. They said the last drop was like a Bender huck, wich sucks, because apparently they were judging mostly off of the last drop.

Ya he got up and started to ride off then decided to change his mind or something. But to his credit we were dead in front of the judges tower, so maybe he tried to get a freebie run?

Either way, I know i wasn't in his way so he can try and blame whoever he wants.

Ya it was, a few guys got blown up on it. They added a ton of dirt to it in the last day or 2 to try and fix it, but I guess it didn't work?

terrible course. there was no way to trick the jumps consecutively because the gaps were poorly spaced etc. so if your timing was anything less than perfect you were screwed. There was almost no flow to it at all and to end it with that big to flat was pretty ghey. I'm very surprised Boyko was able to 3 that thing (let alone twice!). Boyko is a pimp for sure but so are most of those dudes. I almost wish the riders would have boycotted because of the course but that would have sucked too.

I feel like I wasted an afternoon I could have spent riding. boo.

edit: props to AT for sending the heeeeyuge backflip and not dying after over-saucing the next jump. props to Semenuk for pulling 3rd behind pimps like Boyko and Andreu.

Last bit of criticism: Stupid that if you fell your run was over. Also, maybe should've been a combined total of the two finals runs instead of the best of....

edit #2: Props to Paul B for still trying to whip the ghey-motron, he ate it pretty damn hard.

AT rode on Ryan Howards SX Trail, that he grabbed ten minutes before the comp started.

If they judged it on the best of 2, then Lacondeguy would have won, hands down.

I noticed AT was on a borrowed steed. wonder what happened to his Versus?

Andreu's two runs definitely had the most variation between them. Boyko's were sick but exactly the same, just the second run was a lil more wired.

I thought Lacodeguy's 1st run of the "SUPERfinals" was fantastic. He took an alternate line that a lot of people weren't doing, and made it work well for him. He got screwed on the score for that run. That no-hander backflip was off the chain!!

Yeah....when you got guys riding through the grass to try and find a line, then something better has to be done. Going big is one thing....and there's nothing wrong with that, but they could have made things a lot better in terms of flow and size that would have really brought the best out in the competitors.

I don't think it was bender sized. It was big, but I figured the pros would have been able to handle it. Especially with the extra dirt, I was surprised to see so much added to it.

As for strait, dude that was you, I heard that crap and was just laughing, did you happen to see the camera man at the side of the GLC drop get smoked by a 300pound rider. I thought his leg was going to get taken off.

Personally, I loved the comp, better than last year. Sometimes, imo, everything is made to flowy, I found it better to watch the guys work. It really seperated to dj kids from the guys who ride their bikes.

Anyways those are some of my shots, slopestyle only, I wasn't interested in leaving the VIP tent to go watch DS. That, imo, was the biggest mistake, they should have put DS at the bottom like originally planned, or put a proper VIP platform up top (hosted) :)

Maybe thats why the second run scored so high. I didn't think the second run was worth 32. It wasn't close to what boyko did with this "bad" course. Maybe self correcting scoring :)

Swangen 3rd!? No Lopes!? Wtf?
JD was on it yesterday. He qualified really high and held his position. He raced Sam Hill one run and won but unfortunately crashed in his next one against Sam. I couldn't imagine the nerves I'd have if I had to hold my lead against Sam Hill.
Lopes qualified 2nd but didn't race for some reason. Maybe prior commitments on Saturday or he was just over it after the disaster on Friday?

A lot of guys and girls just blew it off on day 2. Some for prior commitments (slopestyle and downhill practice) some just didnt want to race again. Who wants to waste an afternoon when the organizers can't get the racing right? Awesome track, horrid organization for this event.

Swanguen was going really well until he nailed the second set of berms too hard and just exploded.

When was the last time Hill was in a DS final? Good for him, he had a damn good weekend. What frame does he ride for DS?
Hill in a DS final, I would guess he has only raced sea otter slalom a couple times and I think he was in big bear slalom final in 04???
He rode a black frame.

I saw someone mentioned that 'stikman' should agree that the slopestyle was lame or something? It was nothing like watching any of the Xgames bike stuff, but was a great atmosphere, party vibe, energy and all in all a cool event to attend-but from a guy that does not ever see this type of MTBing, I expected more from these guys. They got HUGE balls and skills, do things I could never imagine, but I guess I can say I can not wait for the future of slopestyle, as there is room for growth eh?

Maybe I am not the first to think of this, but its the first I heard, but I want to either have crankworks slopestyle have all the 15k-25k people that are there watching able to TEXT a vote/score in for each rider, OR have some wifi company sponsor the event and give out 500-1000 handheld devices to fans to give scores to the riders. This will give a real accurate vote, vs the biased judges scores because there were a couple runs I thought should have got wicked scores.

Whistler rules, having a blast here with all my old friends and my bike....Oh and more people need Andrew Neethlings personality-Have not laughed that hard in years as I did watching him with the SRAM bullhorn calling out to the fans, damn that was good times. I sure do miss all my old mates.

Off to the chairlift...

That would actually work in whistler. There is Base wireless that has full wireless coverage in the area. That would be a relatively easy thing to set up. Interesting idea, I am friends with one of the marketting people and the IT people, I will pass the suggestion along. Can't promise anything but they are open to opinions generally.

Who were the judges? Was it anyone well known in the industry? I always liked how Rampage and similar events were judged, with former riders, injured riders, and course builders.

The wireless/text idea is great and as mentioned, woudl work perfectly. The entire village square area is saturated with wireless from 3 networks, as are all of the major hotels. Would be easy enough to have it on a closed ciruit network so everyone can get good views. Let the fans decide.

AT? Let me know what he was wearing/number plate and i can let ya know. I can't recognize most of those guys from the photos/style like I can the racers.
He was riding a white SXtrail, and a dirt lid with no goggles. Made it to the supra finals. He was flipping the first step down, out of the gate.
