So my parents got a killer offer for 2 nights stay in Whistler in August anytime I want...I'll be gone till like the 12th, but after thats, who will be in Whistler in August?

I've never ridden my bike there before, although I have been there before. So I need to find someone who could show me around...

Anyone whos going to Whistler in August, please post dates you will be up, how many people you'll be with, your riding skills/style, and if you'd be willing to show a 16 year old freeride/downhiller around (who loves fast singletrack).

thanks!
:-)

Go in September. Shorter lines, perfect riding temps, and most days you get perfect tacky dirt, that is in better condition.

August is just a cluster**** in the park.

September = school.
not to mention...the deal I got is ONLY for August I believe.

sorry Netguy, but you did nothing to answer my question.

And thanks for the responses guys! Keep 'em coming!
I'm going to try and plan this trip with the information of how many people I can get some riding in with. :bonk:

Well my parents chickened out...but my friend said he'd take me.

Sounds like I'm going the 17th-19th.
And now, this thread is sort of pointless, sorry.

*But I ordered my 661 pro pressure and my Oakley goggles for whistler, cant wait!*

I almost made it. Scheduled to be there Aug 8-12 with my cousin. I had been riding him all week to get his stuff together (birth certificate, fix the flat tire on his bike from a month ago, etc etc). So I get off work and he is supposed to be at my house waiting since he didn't work yesterday, but turns out he was still a couple hours late. So whatever, got a late start but was going to truck on through. We pull up to the border at like 1am and they take one look at my cousins license and immediately tell us to pull in to the customs thing. I am thinking WTF and then as we are walking up to the door my cousin says non chalantly "oh I wonder if this was because I was arrested for skipping court?" ****, this is total news to me...

So after about 2 hours of Canada's finest tearing my car apart and threatening to arrest us and all this **** they finally let us go. Of course we have to turn around and go through the US customs thing which took a little over an hour. After they were done the guy said "we knew you were already checked and we weren't going to find anything, but we need to reinforce the fact that we are in charge around here". Seriously.

So at that point it was maybe 5am...I ended up driving all the way back to Portland (I was too annoyed with the whole thing to even think about paying for a hotel). Got home at 10am or some **** so I had been up for 28+ hours straight at that point.

So after an argument with the hotel I was able to get 2 of the days back but the lift tix were non refundable and obviously the gas/time were lost. The broken cd cases/scratched cd's laying all over my car when we got back in it were free (courtesy of customs) and the huge scratches on my laptop from where it was laying on the ground during the search were also complimentary.

Anyways, I know you guys didn't want to hear my story, but I am still a little pissed off as you can imagine. I should also mention that Aug 8 (when all this was happening) was my bday so yeah...

Your cousin is responsible.

Why wouldnt they let you in exactly? Was is because your cousin had a warrent?

He had a suspended license for whatever reason and got pulled over and issued a ticket. Instead of paying the fine or going to court he just let it ride and so a bench warrant was issued. Next time he was pulled over they arrested him due to the warrant, and ticketed him for whatever he was pulled over for. At that point he paid off everything in full, but that arrest is still on his record. The paperwork they gave (at the border) him after they got done searching everything said essentially failure to appear is an offense worthy of causing someone to be criminally admissable. However, it is not considered 'serious criminality'. From what I can tell the difference is that in 5 years he will be able to apply for a temp permit (for $200) to go back into Canada. If it were 'serious' offense he would either be barred for life or he could try to submit a criminal rehabilitation application in 10 years ($1000 fee) and cross his fingers.

Of course, I could give a crap less about all of this. I should have told him to hitch a greyhound bus and just went to Whistler by myself. It would have been kinda lame, but still a lot better than sitting at home surfing the web like I am now :)

I'm headed up to Whistler for the day on Tuesday the 14th, anyone else going to be up there?

I've got to kick it in gear to get up there enough times to make my seasons pass pay for itself. I've been having to much fun this summer riding everywhere but Whistler, now its time to crack down and put some serious time in up there. Luckily for me making yourself go to Whistler is never a bad thing. :)

I'll be up there tomorrow (saturday) riding my reign X1. If you see me, yell! I should be wearing BikeSport apparel, and no body armor.

I'm here for the month, and will probably need a ride into Seattle on the 26th or the 27th or so.

Say hi, I usually wear a CalPoly jersey.
