Guess it would depend on the riding you are going to do, except all those you listed cover pretty much the same range. Not to sound smart @$$, but if you have to ask which brand name of the same type of fork it really isn't going to matter. Go for the cheapest one or whichever one you have some ride time on and like. If you wind up hating it, sell it and get a different one.

Just my unsolicited $.02.

that's why we drink it here
Go marzocchi, whatever you do.
To counter cru's post: older dj forks had a faulty crown that would develop cracks around the fender mounting bolt holes. I should know, I had 2. Still the toughest fork I've ever owned. I beat the piss out of the first one for years and never gave it any loving. Forks from the other two big makers seem to love destroying themselves from the inside out. I haven't thrown a leg over the 4X, but I wouldn't hesitate to order one if I were in the market for a new fork.

EDIT: If you're doing a bunch of stair drops in your street escapades hold on to at least 4 inches of travel. I dropped to 3" once and it didn't treat me well. Screwed up my bike's geometry too.

which of these has a more naturally stiff ride? i rode someone's argyle, he said he had the tension maxed but it still had a lot of squish....

i got the dj2, i gave it two pumps each leg (with a normal pump, no shock pump) and it was absolutly perfect. w/o a doubt get the dj2 and it may be stiff enough for you, but if its not give it a good pump or two for each leg then it will be perfect

I have a set of 409 and they work very well. They are so stiff and are still very light. great on big hits. But wish i had got the Pikes as i wish i could up to fork to 140mm for the trip down the hill home.

I just got an argyle 318. . .kinda crappy stock. ..way too much stanchion showing. . .but they can easily be lowered. Im running mine at 70-75 on the travel and a blk mrkt. Little heavier than my old gold label but feels MUCH better.
