Hood #4 - who's going?

DBR X6 RIDER

Turbo Monkey
Since I wasn't invited to race at Ft. William (World's) that particular weekend, I suppose I'll have to settle on Hood. I guess it would help if I had at least one race under my belt...ya' think?

From what it sounds like, the sport course is not that challenging so I reckon the expert course will be more up my alley. Now, I just need to decide if I should race the senior-circuit or just go for it and race with the non-senile group. Either way, I'm more-or-less going just to have fun...and hopefully get some riding in nearby the Monday after.

Thoughts?

hood is an awesome course (expert that is) sport is a little more pedaly and not as fast as the expert so racing up definately makes the trip worth it cause you also get 2 runs unlike sport / begg. who only get 1

by the way ill be there with a few kids

I'll be there for sure. Not sure what bike I'll be riding as I sold all of mine. I raced the last race at Hood on a co-workers Session 10. Hopefully my stuff will be here before then. It's going to be a blast, again.

Sept. 1-2 and the finals will be on 22-23.

Thanks for the info! Yeah, it sounds worth it just from the 2-run format alone to go expert. The whole idea of racing is to go real fast, plus I pedaled enough on my 40lb rig yesterday @ Tolt to atone for the entire year.

p.s. - sod off, Eren!!! We'd better see some tight photos from that.

hahaha

I did the sport course last time (firgured i should for my first race). The uphill rock garden section is BRUTAL. I was also too cheap to pay for an elite license so I could choose beg or sport...

You should enter the hardtail category...they run the sport course...wooo cannonball up top must be a nightmare on a hardtail!

Cool. I'll try not to stack it in your prescence, but be sure to get a good shot if I happen to!

T-minus three weeks and counting...sounding like quite a few peeps I know are going to be there and also looking forward to meeting some fellow monkeys there.

With that being said, I'll reiterate that I will try to not stack it in your prescence. This is by no means a promise of any kind.

Three more races this year!!! 2 more hood races, and Mt. Spokane. I'll hopefully be at all 3. I got to keep my points up for the Hood series!

Can anybody tell me what the Sport course is like? What are typical race run times? Fast and steep or flat and pedally?
I've only ridden it once and would say that it is steep and fast, but unlike the Expert course isn't too techy and void of big drops and jumps. Still tough to ride fast and keep it up from the top to bottom.

The sport course...heh..

Starts out on a chundery fireroad and meets up with the expert course. You share a next section called "cannonball"...it is fast with some interesting corners. Very water-bar-y with some nice babyheads to catch you off guard. Once you pop out of that you have a terrible sweepy fireroad right hand corner to make and then the rest of the trail is just windy singletrack with zero steepness to it.

There is one section, closer to the bottom, that really REALLY gets you. The course splits between sport/beginner, and you have an uphill rockface to power up. You come off that and face some rockgarden action that dips down and up and straight. Very tiring.

The sport course is won with smart cornering and smart braking on the top....oh and whoever can yell "PSYCLECROSS!!!!" the loudest and run up the rockface and across the garden. Yep.
