Come help out the Clemson Freeride club build their brand new DS course.
Saturday Aug 25th starting at 9 am.
The course will be positioned right next to the DH course so please use the directions found on our website.

www.clemsonfreeride.com

There will be heavy machinery present so please be mindful of that and keep an eye on your children/pets if you plan to bring them out.

Please post any questions here or shoot me an email at
ride at clemson.edu

For the record this course will be featured on the collegiate circuit (oct 14th) as well as another public race this october (probably oct 15th) so heres your chance to come out and get in a couple runs.

Awesome, I will try to make it out if I can.
Are you guys building it where the old slalom is or are you using another area?
We are under review for the clear cut area right next to the DH track. However, to be on the safe side we are laying out lines both at the end of the DH run and on the old DS course. So there is the possibility of seeing a resurrected DS but if we get our way we'll have some much better real estate :happydance:

Me and the guys will be out spotting lines and doing some clearing by hand the entire week before the 25th so feel free to come on down. Hit me up or post on our forum and im sure someone will meet you out there.

I'll have to take a trip down there, since I plan on racing the colligiate event there. I will try and bring some more riders from Charlotte with me to help in the building effort.

Couldn't you just have a finish straight where both lanes merge, so timing would be easier, but it'll still effectively be two seperate lanes.

Ehh, that's kinda half assin it. The other problem with seperate lanes is that you have to try to make both courses as similar as possible. And because they will never be the same, you will have to have racers run both courses.

we will do what our terrain allows us to do best. The design posted by matt earlier more than likely will be changed significantly layout wise.
#1 the footprint is too large
#2 this aint wisp
#3 our planning thus far as been making an inventory list of what we would like to see and what we need to accomplish it. So expect to see alot of the things proposed just not in that layout

Just an update:
We were approved to use the section of land next to our DH course finish line. So park in the holly springs parking lot like the directions give.
Then walk across the bring into the clear area, we will be working to the right of that step down on the hill. Hopefully machines will be there before you arrive so just listen/look for that.

**Update**

After some debate, myself, Jon and most of the other members of the Club think it will be much easier to level the old course and use that area to resurrect a new course. We are meeting out at the trail today with the guy that will be bringing the heavy machinery to discuss some last minute ideas.

If you can make it down to Isaqueena sometime this Saturday that would be amazing. We will be out there from 10am to Dark. We are hoping for a decent turnout but I'm afraid we won't have enough tools for everyone so if you have any shovels, rakes, pick axes, wheel barrows, etc. please bring them.

thanks!

FINAL UPDATE!!!

There will be a work day tommorow, Saturday the 24th, at 10 A.M. to rebuild the old DS course located in Issaquenna Forest.

Directions to the DS course can be found out our website here. This will have you parking at the bottom of the Holy Springs Area. Hike up the fire road, which will lead you right to the DS course.

We will have some hand tools on hand, as well as a New Holland on site to do the bulk of the dirt moving. If you have any shovels, rakes or wheelbarrels please bring them out!

Since there will be a Mechanized Equipment on site, please be mindful and aware of where it is working!

There will be Chilled Red Bull and Water for anyone that helps out, and we are planning to grill for lunch as well.

Please show your support and come out to help.

The more work this course gets the better the October 15th DH and DS race will be!!!!

We had a million people out there that day. Yeah, i counted. 1 Million people. But seriously, we're going out this afternoon to work on the trails and we'll be out there again tomorrow (saturday) to work on them some more. I'll probably be out saturday morning so if anyone wants to come out and help either day you can probably find us on the ds trail.
