The crews at Colonnade have been making incredible progress in our final push to get Phase 1 built out before the Grand Opening Party on September 8.

Everyone is invited to the party!
When: Saturday, Sept 8. 10:00 - 2:00.
Where: Colonnade
What: Ribbon cutting ceremony at 10, followed by a BBQ, raffle for a Trek Jack 2 dirt jumper, and a chance to ride the park. Bring your bike.
More info: http://bbtc.org/recreation/calendar.php?event_id=5696

How to get there: Take I-5 towards downtown Seattle from either direction and take exit 168A.
  • From the South it'll be the Lakeview Blvd exit, and the park will be immediately on your left after you get off the freeway.
  • From the North it'll be the Boylston/Roanoke exit. Merge onto Boylston and when it curves under the freeway, you'll see the park on your right.

Event Schedule:
  • 10:00 - Ribbon cutting ceremony
  • 11:00 - Walking tour of Phase 2 & plans
  • 11:30 - 1:30 - BBQ
  • 1:30 - Raffle for a Trek Jack 2 dirtjumper & other goodies

And check this out, Colonnade was mentioned on CNN as one of the most unique urban spaces, right along with other international parks in Paris, Spain and others! Follow this link and we're picture #5.

Here's some of the most recent pictures showing the new features. We've had the trail tread in for a while, which will be great for novice and intermediate riders. Now the crews have some super cool optional TTFs in that are great for all levels of riders, and some of them are pretty challenging even for good riders. Others are mellow and great ways to work up to the harder stuff.

The upper logride:

A low logride great for practicing the skinny stuff:

The suspension bridge:

A rock garden that leads into a short, low skinny:

The teeters:

The "G line", there was another TV crew out there filming today:

Mike and Jon on the Gline. This is a pretty hard line, it's really a bucking bronco type thing:

The awesome ladder bridge line that Skookum built. This is a great line that leads into other features and rides great in both directions:

A view of the Skook's line:

A skinny:

The same skinny. Going this way you first ride down the G Line, then onto this skinny, then onto a teeter, then down a rock chute, then over a log pile. RAD!

All these pics and more, including plans for the park, can be found at the Colonnade page.

And I also want to throw out a big thanks to our sponsors! Support from REI and Gregg's/Trek Bicycles have made this event and the BBQ possible.

Trek will have their entire fleet of demo mountain bikes out there.

We just air brushed the seat out when we air brushed his helmet in... you know, to mix it up a bit.

I laughed when I saw that too. I figured there was a bum someplace trying to sell a seat and seatpost. maybe walking into REI down the street and demanding a return so he could get more Mad dog.

I'll try to make it with the boys. They'll want to ride "their section".

Lately, we've been riding there once a week after work and it's a blast and a good workout going up and down those steep tight hills. It really is a trials kind of place, lots of rocks to play on, more lines possible than you can imagine...

And it'll be even more fun when they start in on the advanced section!

Hey Borneo, you guys should buy a rock! I wonder where they're going to put the personalized rocks?

The first batch is being installed next week, and will be right between the trails and the sidewalk along Lakeview Blvd where everyone can see them.

I updated the original post with some more detailed schedule info. We're also holding a raffle for:
  • Trek Jack 2 dirt jumper bike
  • Stevens Pass lift tickets
  • BBTC bootcamp classes for beginner riders
  • and probably more

I rode there a couple days ago and was impressed, it was sorta fun and a great place to practice skinnys, there were a few technical rock rolls as well. Props to Skokem on the ladder I actully felt some flow for a second.

I wont be able to make it to the opening party but I look forward to helping build the advanced area when I get back in the country.

What is the lastest on that good dirt they were going to bring in for the pump track?

The pump track is going to be redesigned from the small one that is there now. There will likely be part of it under cover and part of it out in the open - and you should be able to transfer between the two sections. The covered part will need some kind of soil stabilizer on it, and the open part will be more normal "good" dirt.

Mike & the crews have found that even the best dirt doesn't work under there since it doesn't get any water. They'll be looking into the soil hardeners that BMX tracks in places like Arizona use.

Really cool idea guys and a great use for something that was probably at best a wasted space before and at worst a hangout for bums and other shady characters.
