6 Days of Love

Echo, The Toninator, Deyv, Isa, Heidi, Captain Cogset and Ghostrider met up for 6 days of singeltrack riding, food eating, and beer drinking . A couple people took some dirt samples numerous times as well

I intended our Day 1 ride to be a mere warm up but we ended up riding for almost 5 hours. That's what happens in my world - you just get carried away having so much fun and I forget how far we're going. In my defense, we added on an extra 8 or so miles by riding from my house. Anywho, here we go. Sit back and relax while the craziness ensues.

No pictures were taken on Whoops because no one stopped riding to take one. The flow is just too perfect to interrupt but smiles were pretty wide when we got to the bottom. Grand Slam seemed to be the favorite of the day.

Poor Derek (Captain Cogset) worked that day and met us at Bend Brewing Company after work. We were all enjoying our post ride beers and snacks.




From there we ended up at Deschutes Brewery were hilarity continued



That night was Webcylery movie night so we went and watched Roam and drank more beer.




Day 2

Tuesday was MRT day. MRT is simply the best trail around. It is so much fun and there are different trail characteristics the whole way. I love the little rock sections that challenge even skilled riders, the and the scenery that pries your eyes from the trail.

Day 3

Day 3 was our "Day off". We only rode for about 3 hours that day so we could recover a bit...and drink more. We rode up Skyliners Ridge, Sector 16, down upper whoops and down Skyliner Summit in a nice loop.

I rode up the hill behind Tony taunting him about the Alamo and then when I'd frustrated him enough I pulled off a smooth pass to get this.









Wednesday night Derek cooked us burgers and brats before we went out for beers.




Day 4

Oakridge was the plan of attack. We drove out there and began our climb right away. It's about 2 miles flatish to 8 miles full climb. Upon reaching the top Echo exclaimed, "That has to be one of my favorite climbs!" I thought he was being sarcastic but he was dead serious. Next time I'll send him up the singletrack climb instead...it is BRUTAL!

Anyway, the only way to describe the descent is to compare it to a video game where you swoop and dive through space like a fighter pilot. Smiles all around. The 8 mile climb equaled a 6 mile descent and it's insanely fun.

We made it home in time for Mexican Food, martinis, and to pick Ghostrider up at the airport.

Day 5

With our newest addition to the family (Ghostrider), we headed for Waldo Lake. There were a few bike casualties this day but we pressed on. Isa was the first to go but with some handy dandy tools, her Racer X was converted to a singlespeed after snapping her hanger off. A mere 50 feet down the trail Deyv got a flat tire and were were turning fearful. Pressed on.

Dinner was the world's BEST sandwiches.

Day 6

After 5 days averaging somewhere over 4 hours each day of riding, I had saved the hardest for last. Saturday we rode from Skyliners Snowpark up North Fork, up Metolius Windigo, down Flagline, and down South Fork to the start. It is a GRUNT of a climb to Flagline and the loop itself took us somewhere around 5 hours with picture stops.

Flagline and South Fork are two of my favorite trails in Bend. Flat out fast with lots of fun areas.
