just wondering what you monkeys personally do.

i generally dont wear body amour at all, racing or not. but sometime there are tracks that scare me into doing so, also allows me to push my self untill i am off the bike and not worry about it.

depends on the course. I would say half the time.

<edit> I never wear body armor when I'm "freeriding"

Body amour - is that like perfume? I guess I do like to smell good for the boys :)

Seriously though - I wear mine all the time pretty much. If I'm doing push runs somewhere hot and not too gnarly I'll leave it off, but anything that involves a shuttle car or chairlift = body armour for me. Personally I don't find it restricts movement at all, and honestly I totally forget about it once it's on.

I always wear knee/shin pads and a 661 pressure suit for lift accessed riding. When freeriding, I leave the pressure suit at home, but I still wear the knee/shin pads. Regadless of location, I always wear gloves and a full face helmet, my Giro Switchblade for freeride, something a little bigger for DH.

If it's a nice sunny day then I don't wear it. But usually I wear it when it's wet or cloudy... I don't know why. I guess cause sunny days put me in a better mood and I don't feel like being clad in armor.

I always wear my full face and knee/shin pads if I am downhilling though.

pretty much no armor anymore, if im riding something i dont know i will put on some elbows and knees, or if im racing or riding big mountain stuff i will wear armor for the first few days or for practise and then take it off for race run/when i feel comfortable.

oh and if its riding in mud i usually wear some armour unless im feeling extra special :)

I don't wear any upper body armor because I can't afford it (will get some sometime). The knee/shin pads come out depending on what I'm riding, if it's anything new or mildly difficult they're on but simple local runs usually off.

i did, cos' it restricts me, but it realy needs more options because, I rarely wear it for that reason, but, like most people i know when i need it, if i feel like im gona crash allot or hard on a rocky track im gona wear it regardless. plus most of the time ill wear a mx kidney belt cos thats the first thing ill hit but boes that count? i rarely wear full body armour but if i do i go in stages of armour depending on what the tracks like, first nothing --> then kidney -->then back plate ----> then shoulders ---> then chest and elbow.

what i dont get is people using nothing but elbows or with dainese with the back plate off, i mean cuts and scrases heal in a week or two but a broken backs dont and an exploded kidney aint too good ither. i find the back plate alone is pretty un-restrictive unlike the suits.

If its really hot, I don't wear it.
If the course is really easy, I don't wear it.
Every other situation I wear it.

I wear my armor all the time- Rockgardn jacket, knee/shin and a DOT full face. Sometimes I add ankle braces to that. I bought it, its meant to be worn, so I wear it. Saved me countless times.

On XC rides I usually only rock a skate helmet, but I'm getting a pair of knee guards tomorrow, 'cause I always seem to bash the hell out of knees climbing on the big bike.

I haven't in the past but that new core armor sixsixone came out with is nice. I like how it has no arm pieces so I can still move around freely but it protects my spin and front. That was my main reason for not using armor, restricts my movements too much.

I wear dainese viking bibs and safety jacket every time I ride lift access DH. I've heard the plastic spine protector collide with rocks enough times to convince myself its worth it.

Don't feel unconfortable with full body armor so I wear it all the time(maybe cuz I'm using protection on snowboard which I started riding much earlier than DH, or maybe because of some injuries).
Probably only knee pads when I'll be soon learning to dj but I don't see the supah coolnes of having no armor.

I wear it all the time; but I am officially old and brittle.

If I don't feel like the heavy artillery (Pressure Suit) - - like in a Super-D - - I'll wear my hard-shell Defender.

I wear full stuff for DH basically all the time. For XC rides i'll wear knee/shin pads. Freeriding usually add some elbow pads if i'm feeling slightly off. Should maybe start wearing something for that too tho, like the 661 assault suit or w/e it is. I did a run at diablo without armor and kept thinking "now how much more will this hurt if i crash?"

Its an absolute necessity out here in AZ as I have learned. I hate wearing it when its 115° outside, but it seems that every time I don't wear it I get hurt.

Just 2 weeks ago while riding with KavuRider we pedaled up, it was nice and cool out, didn't wear any armor, started back down, took a stupid fall, landed on some rocks and broke a couple ribs / got bloodied up pretty good.:bonk:

From now on its a no exception thing, even if its just the Kyle Strait knee pads and my RockGardn jacket without the arm pads.

never wear it. body armor isn't going to do squat against the really bad injuries - the ones that will keep you off a bike for a while. Bones heal and chicks dig scars....

661 Kyle Straits and sometimes 661 chicken wing elbows but that is about it. Regardless if racing or not.

For '08, I'm definately going to buy the 661 pro pressure suit.

Skip on the 661 and look at the 08 RockGardn suit. I have a 661 Pro Pressure Suit (The $300 one) and its crap. After just a couple rides it started to fall apart and rip. I went out and got the new Storm Trooper style RockGardn for half the price of the 661 and its far better put together and actually has better protection.
