If that info is correct I'd better start cutting a DS course, because the Firestone venue don't have one yet! And our DH course is too easy....I'll have to work on that too.

I think Mt Snow has the National Championship race again (not part of the NMBS). I think it's the week before or after the NY race.

As far as I know, that is correct. It's not part of the series, just a seperate championship.

Harry, I should be buying a camper during the off season. Ty needs to make sure he gets some of those dates off. The 3 SMURFS and myself should make a few of those.

Interesting, thanks guys. If it is 4.5 hours from me I may just make thr drive down and show up. Plattekill is more like 8 hours from me in Montreal (Albany is just under 4).

Wow. Lots of new venues. So am I to assume that means there is a large cash sponsor who will be actually paying 10 deep in Pro DH now?

Oh..and thanks for fokking the southeast again. Sugar begged for 2 years straight to have a late May date so there would be plenty of housing available. But NORBA is sucking the West Coast wang. We got 70 degree temps and green grass in NC the whole month of May.

Instead, they go and give a venue only a few hours drive from the Atlantic seaboard a race date on the biggest vacation weekend of the year.

No one wants to pack up the family and head off the a MTB race on the weekend they ALWAYS hit the lake, the beach or the woods with family.

And to boot, you won't have a room to stay in, so just plan on sleeping in your car.

WINNER!

it is doable.....but the trip from deer valley to sugar is gonna be SUPER tight for the team rigs.....gonna cause some trouble. now how much of this schedule is going to overlap with WC/Crankworx stuff/MSC stuff....

Not really. They'll be in the parking lot on Tuesday easy. Straight down I40.

The real question is...will the team rigs be cool enough to their riders to turn off I40 at the Oak Ridge exit in Knoxville and drive 15 minutes down the 5 lane into the massive parking lots of Windrock, which is open 7 days a week with 2500 Feet of Elevation and a paved shuttle road that any team rig could drive up???:brows::brows:

it is roughly a 28 hour drive. with single drivers they can only drive 11 hours a day. also depends on their hours of service and how they have recorded it. when they are out of there on sunday, all that stuff.....it is tight. weigh stations open or not? it is a tight drive. i would guess most would be pulling in weds afternoon. also cant exactly do ninety miles an hour the whole way

Yeah looking forward to that one too although I am a little worried about the course: Johnston went there for a race this summer and used a few chosen words to describe the course ;)
yah the dh course is really pedally. i hope they figure out a better more downhill course for the finals.

We will for sure have a MSC in Angelfire,I liked it better that way anyways. I also herd rumor of a Durango MSC!

It is going to be interesting to see how they select the worlds team for next year. I'm guessing it will be based partialy on results this season because firestone and fontana probably aren't the best judges of riding for a course like the one in Italy. Im guessing they will have to announce the worlds team around the end of May at the latest because worlds are June 15th!!

Angelfire will be sooo much better without the hands of the evil. Way to kill 4X nmbs. (the international sport) Lazy people with no dirt moving skills.

You must think that the pro teams are following the DOT rules. :bonk:

Go ask the drivers to see their CDL. I am surprised that this hasn't been more of an issue considering some of the wrecks in transit. Heck, even I got hassled by the Ohio SP on the way home from the Open a few years ago for not having a CDL and all I was pulling was a tag trailer. Not sure how these teams with 5th wheel trailers get away with it.

they actually are. Shimano is full DOT legal...and analy retentive about it. Luna is DOT legal with their CDLs. Fox as well. hayes/manitou is doing log books. same with giant/michelin. I have worked with all these guys and know that they are all legal. they may fudge it here and there, but it isnt like it was 5+ years ago. most if not all of the major rigs that are traveling from race to race are full DOT legal. Some rigs don't require them to have a CDL, but they all need to be doing Log books, and are. and going through weigh stations

I don't doubt that some of them may be legal some of the time. However, I know for a fact that a few of them with big rigs are not licenced as commercial vehicles even though they exceed the max weight requirement and are in fact commercial in purpose.

Why was one of the teams you listed so quiet after a big wreck a few years ago?

as far as i know the only big rigs that arent full rated are the cdale rigs. and that has been changing. but the ones i listed are. and yeah not saying the whole circuit is legal. and i know they cut corners on listing hours at times. but either way the point of the comment is the fact that the time difference between the races is too tight. thats for the team rigs. that doesnt even count TBBs semi that they tote around and naked man drives. that WONT make it in time

Wiindham should be interesting. They don't even have any DH trails/lift service available...yet. I did talk to one of the people working on the project last weekend and at least he races pro DH and has some knowledge on layout/knows the mountain very well!

Windham is I think only 30 minutes from Plattekill/ an hour from Albany.

Can you tell him to have a race on it prior to the National so it won't ride like a worm farm in the bayou?
That was one thing I wish we could have done with Sugar last year was to have a race prior so all the monster mulch cleared off the trail prior to the Nat. It rode so much better this year.

Yep, I hope this does not hurt Sugar's attendence.
Then they will be one person in every class instead of two.
Everyone's a winner!;)

Windam is 30 minutes northeast from Plattekill. They have 1650 ft. vertical so it is a decent size mountain. They have done no lift serviced biking to date and have no trail network so this will be a whole new ballgame for them.Alot will depend on who is building the course and what is their ultimate goal with MTB.Is this a one shot deal or are they planning to develop a bike park.
