Please...although the Bears have had, what 17? QB's in 14 years, they need to dump him like a blind date

See.....here's where all of you Bears fans have missed a golden opportunity as a reason to tout Rex as one of the Bears' best. At what, 19 starts as QB, doesn't he become the longest-tenured starting QB in the past 20 years for Chicago?

Smartassedness aside, let's not forget that Rex's stats last year were the best for any Bear QB since Erik Kramer in 95. He threw for over 3,000 yards, had 23td passes and 13 wins, 2 postseason wins including and NFC championship (with a playoff rating higher than payton manning) and a (albeit poor) superbowl appearance.
Also he was September's NFC offensive player of the month AND had the second most 100+ qb rating games in the NFL last year, only one game behind Marc Bulger. I just dont see how he's chopped liver.

I beleive he can be an above average to very good QB in the NFL. He has shown improvement this season, despite his numbers, by demonstrating an ability to step up in the pocket, hold on to the football when sacked, and even scramble a bit. Sure, he locks on to his primary target too much, is slow an immobile at times, and throws into coverage. BUT i think his positives outweigh that. The Bear offense is built on a vertical game. Berrian is useless in traffic and Moose is too old and slow to be counted on consistently. Skinny posts and deep crossing routes to the TE are bread and butter. Griese cant make those passes if you ask me.

the Greasman has proven himself over the years comparably to Grossman. and i havent seen a improvement this year from Rex either. 1 TD pass?? 9 sacks? 500 yards for 3 games? 6 Ints? but he has cut down on fumbles this year with one.
Granted the Moose is old and Benson isnt making up for the loss of Jones, but we cant rely on our D this year to make up for low QB rating and low performances this year from our QB..Griese and or Orton is not a long term solution, but its the best solution the Bears have now. maybe Orton is a better solution? this was taken from their site about Orton.
"Third-year QB showed off abilities during 2005 season when he established Bears rookie records for games started, wins, pass attempts, completions, yards and tied for TDs while leading Chicago to an 8-game win streak (10/16-12/4), the 2nd-most wins by a rookie QB since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 (Ben Roethlisberger, 13 in 2004)… His 10 wins set an NFL record for victories by a rookie QB drafted in the fourth round or lower since the common draft was instituted in 1967… Third rookie QB in franchise history to start a season opener (Johnny Lujack, 1948; Zeke Bratkowski, 1954), which made him the seventh different opening-day QB for the Bears in as many years… The NFL's lowest-drafted QB to start a season opener since 2001 (Chris Weinke, CAR) after rising to the starting spot 2 weeks before opening day after beginning training camp as the third-string QB."

McNabb...Grossman...Harrington...Boller...Eli...they ALL take a lot of abuse when their team doesn't win(regardless of their play) for no other reason than they are QUARTERBACKS. They are in positions of control and responsibility so when things don't go right, "off with 'is head" is the usual response from dumbarses. Ever wonder why they're called "Armchair or Monday Morning Quarterbacks"? This is not a phenomenon particular to just QBs, either. When things don't go right in wars, Generals and Admirals are replaced. When things don't go right in politricks, Presidents and other bigwig politricksters are replaced. When things don't go right for most any sports franchise, coaches are replaced regardless of their overall W/L records. Only in the business world is abject failure rewarded amongst leaders with golden parachutes and exercised options.

By the way, HOWS 'BOUT DEM COW-BOYS!!!

Romo said it best about QB's taking all the abuse because they touch the ball every play. Granted all the abuse Rex is getting is crazy, but aside from that, he isnt performing up to the standards of the former NFC champs and isnt where they need to be...granted they beat the Chiefs, but arent they worse off than the Bears?

Im pretty depressed about it right now. What's worse however is my custom title is now obselete. Can I get it to say "Rex Grossman Will Rise Again"?
I actually feel sorry for him, some Chitown fans aren't very tolerant of not winning. With all the good teams (between bulls-bears) they've had over the years it can be tough to live up to their expectations.

Griese had 3 ints yesterday vs. the vaunted Lions secondary. He must be the savior.

Burly, wtf is wrong with the Bears' defense?
Well, they were without 6 starters

Mike Brown
Lance Briggs
Adam Archuletta
Charles Tillman
Nathan Vasher
Dusty Dvoracek

...for one. That list reads like a probowl roster. Still I bet if you were to check the stats, in the 1st half of games, bears are easily the #1 Defense, but theyre on the field so much they get winded bad by the 4th quarter. Offense blows and ruins everything. Except hester of course.

I was in Nashville and missed the game. But from what I heard one of the picks went through Berrian's hands.

I am not a fan of any of the Bears QB's. They should be looking outside the organization for the answer. If not in free agency then they shoul ddraft one, but that will just mean that next year will be more of the same.

i think we need Ditka back. maybe the Fridge too and a headband wearing QB. that'll solve our problems.

stupid fact. Bob Griese, Brian's father, was one of the announcers for the '85 Super Bowl...i love wikipedia

Umm, isn't the real problem the Bears offensive line?

Wasn't Griese sacked and rushed way too much? I think four sacks?

Give Griese a chance. But more importantly, rework the offense to give whichever QB more time. Add a TE if necessary and go only two wide.

true....their D though is hurting beyond belief. we relied too much last year on our D and this year its gone down the crapper. the D won a lot of games last year for us, and with 6 guys on IR, it sure wont help us this year.

I'm willing to bet that an effective running game last year helped to mask the problems that Sex Cannon had as QB. Hell, the same argument can also be applied to Rivers in SD. Both QBs clearly aren't playing with the same accuracy and decision-making that rewarded them with praise last year.

Clearly.

Grossman had issues and now that Ced runs into the pile for 2 yards at a time his issues and lack of ability are on full display. He can't make desicions fast enough and his feet can't get him out of trouble long enough for him to make the desicions.

8-8 here we come.
