Got an iPod Touch

It's got 16g, it's a little smaller, and yep no phone. It's great for me cause I need the net access and organization options for school and work, it's got plenty of memory for my purposes, longer battery life, and it's got a nice widescreen. I don't, however, want to leave Verizon. I know you can unlock iPhones but I'm not messing with that. I also want the extra memory.

Nope that's the iPod Classic. The iPod Touch is 8 or 16.
Q: are you using a PC or Mac?

I ask because I'm torn as to with what I want to replace my worn Ipod. I would like a classic, but there are rumors of glitches when used with a PC. Anyway, if you are using a PC, have you had any problems with the itouch?

MacBook. Either I'm young and hip or a total tool. I'll plug it into a PC sometime this week and see if I have any problems for you. What specifically is going on?

I love mine. Took me forever to get it going, had to upgrade to the newer OSX, then reinstall iTunes, then another update, but finally, it's running.
Took it to Vegas last week, free wifi pretty much everywhere, so that was cool. Videos are cool, on a plane, but I dig mine.

I need a 3rd Gen too, for work, as my 20gb got stolen by the fvcking cleaning crew...

20 hours of video or 7000 songs is enough for me especially in a Linux-based internet capable device that small with a great user interface and a great screen.
linux != bsd. sheesh. linux is not the universal term for *nix.

Is anyone making software for it?
Like Aim?
Word?
Will they allow you to input data into the planner?

If I buy one I want to be able to use it as a PDA.

I know, I just never received confirmation that bsd is unix or than Mac uses a Unix Core.

It is clear, NOW, that BSD is Unix. I was Never DOUBTING Toshi. From what I read, it looked asthough Mac used BSD. I thought it may have changed Again. I didn't know that BSD was UNIX.

sometimes when one does not know the answer it is appropriate to use "teh google" to search for background info.

your teachers were wrong: some questions ARE stupid.

I thought BSD was a newer OS.

All I was asking is, is MAC a unix OS?

SS gave me a bunch of ****, so I looked it up.

I was just confirming that Mac uses a Unix Core

Goddamn.
Yeah. Linux and Mac OS X are both based on Unix, but are not the same. The iPhone/iPod touch both use a scaled down version of Mac OS X. Pay no attention to SS, he is just a bitter old man.

Back to the real question, does anyone know if anyone is creating new programs for the touch?
Kind of. Apple only allows for web based programs so that there is a layer of protection against crappy programs ruining the iPhone/iPod touch. However, Apple is reportedly working on a system that will allow 3rd party programs to be used on the phone without potentially ruining it. As far as Word capability, I think you have view documents, but not much more than that. Remember that this is the first iteration of OS X light, so these features may come with the next generation.

That sucks, Unless I can use it as a mini laptop, it really doesn't do me much good. I want to be able to use it as a Dell Axim sort of device.
