I hear ya on the utopia not talking thing.

I like it when companies know whats going on and atleast SOUND like they care...I've had good luck with Atomlab, Deity, and transition bikes so far...and of course my clothing sponsor, since its free, but at the same time...I wish they'd focus on a sport and sell clothing that fits them.

EVOMO are some cool peeps also.
Evomo offered my a pro sponsorship the day after I already got a clothing sponsor....sort of a bummer, because I like the stuff EVOMO has, and they seem like cool guy's.

They were definatly ready to hook me up right away when I mentioned that they needed some downhillers on the team.

Im curious,

Has anyone else here sent a check money order etc to Utopia and not recieved anything they ordered.

I spent over 3 months talking to them about this finally ended up getting the presidents personal cell number and still nothing just a we are under new management and if you can really prove you sent a money order we cant help you. My reply well I sent it have been on you and nothing I can show you the bank transaction but money orders dont say who it went to in my bank account. Hmm I wonder why they wanted that form of payment.

hows your collerbone doin?
Much better. I have had no pain for 3 weeks now and I recently started riding XC. I would like to make it to Plattekill this weekend but I don't think it's a great idea because the doctor doesn't suggest falling and risking a re-break untill 8 weeks are up. At that point our season is pretty much over so I'm pretty bummed.

I didn't send a check, just paid by credit card the first week of August, and then got no replies for a while. Early September some guy from 'UMO' named Jeff got ahold of me and told me to send him the list of everything I ordered because they were taking over Utopia and wanted to correct all the problems. I talked to him the first week in September as well, and then I finally got a response to all my emails/calls a few days ago that just said something about Utopia wanting to stay its own company and hes sorry...

Un-realated...but I watched "Supercross", a movie I found on On Demmand, and I noticed they were racing with Utopia goggles.

(Its an actually themed movie and all).

Sorry to bring this thread back... But I ordered goggles and stuff through Utopia in response to a big discount email Jason sent out around the first of August.

I just got a hold of Utopia today after dealing with Jeff Curran, the claimed CEO of UMO and all that stuff. Utopia claims that Jeff never had a role with them and they are filing a lawsuit. They told me Jason offered out those deals because he was a bitter employee because he was gonna get fired pretty much. They told me to just contest the charges and I would get my money back.

Sounds like a huge mess to me. I don't know what they're going to do, or all of what is going on there, but I'm never doing business with them again fersure.

Sounds like what they should have done was honor the bogus offers just to keep the public on their side... Big companys would usually do anything to keep their customers happy.

Yeah thats what you would think. I would have cared more about getting what I ordered a few months ago... Now I just want to stop having to deal with this. Plus, I don't even know that they were bogus offers. That is just what Utopia said, and they say a lot of stuff.

They also said it costs them $20 to produce a pair of goggles, which I have trouble believing, but hey, I don't know anything about it?

the deals were not bogus from what i was aware... they needed cash BAD & had to liquidate EVERYTHING. It wouldn't have been Jason's decision... he's not in charge of pricing (though he could fluxuate his rider's discount)...but to price everything out that drastically - he wouldn't have been allowed. The "president" at that time would have had the final say...& in fact, the "new" president of Utopia, was a former Sales Manager for Utopia...& he would have a big say in that. Hell, the company posted fliers, emails, etc about discounted pricing! i seriously doubt if it was one "bitter" employee doin that.

goggles vary in price (as i'm learning -- putting my own model together)...depending on who you get them through, how many you get, colors, styles, etc.. but no, it didn't cost them $20

Yeah that is what I drew out of it. They tried to make it seem like he was just angry because he was losing his job... I just think now they don't want to honor the previous pricing they offered so they're telling me they had no control, blah, blah blah.

Oh, and sciracha, I won't be buying them anymore, obviously, but I thought their goggles were good. The lenses scratched a bit easily, but other than that I liked 'em.

as much as i despise the company now, i'll still admit, the goggles were pretty good. i was impressed mostly at how well the "anti-fog" worked. no they're not 100% (no company is), but they worked well.

with that said, i'll still never purchase another Utopia product ever again. a company w/ standards such as theirs, i wouldn't support them at all! i'd rather go outta my way, spend a little more money, etc in order to get a company w/ good history & supports the sport of MTB

Their goggles and clothing are kickass.
But whenever I ordered something there was a 100% change of getting stuff the wrong color and i think most of the time they just sent the stuff they couldnt sell anymore.
I rather buy some overpriced Oakley goggle next season then use the Utopia's anymore...
Who needs sponsoring anyways?

that's cool.
i had a bad experience with the foam falling apart prematurely on my utopia goggles and have since stuck with oakley. sorry if i was being sarcastic and arrogant with my flippant response.
best of luck with your new adventures.

I'm a huge fan of how much peripheral vision the slayer mx goggles had. Not such a big fan of how easy they scratched, and hate it when companies have shady business practices. It's just about time for new goggles for me and I definitely won't be risking buying anything from Utopia.

so it seems. i'll buy your googles. just make sure you have one with an orange/black fade
heh.... unfortunately there probably won't be one to start out... we'll see... gotta find out prices for fades..compared to solids. i'm trying to get a quality, but inexpensive goggle that looks good! (& i'm finding that it's hard to have best of all worlds! :D). might just start out w/ solid colors, then work on fades later..... of course i could always paint some up! ;)

How bad it is all these stories,
I'm a "sponsored rider" through SH, I worked my ass to find them a distributor over here, explain how kool is the brand, how serious is... what was the quality products.... Now everybody wants some Utopia Goggles, but the distributors have some problems to get them (just talked to him) Ulisses, does he still work for Utopia,

As I did understand, Jason doesn't work there anymore (he was my contact)

So that's probably mean I will be out there to look for some good quality Goggles.

If you want to expand your brand to Reunion Island you can contact x-solutions@hotmail.fr stephane euphrasie he "try" to import my sponsors. but looks like it's hard work to work with the americans!

my feedback on Utopia products :
been using hardly 2 pairs for more nearly a year, it's still in good shape! Have 2 other pairs for race only!
lenses scracth rapidely as other brands.
Antifog lenses works really good for me, never had any problem, ride DH, Enduro moto, even use them to cut the grass with the mower!!!
the wickness is probably the straps, they looks bad after fews days (peeled easily) (got irratated with gloves & washing probably)
they came off twice from the goggles "armature" when putting them on the helmet, maybe pulled too hard. even on the toodirty models with the pins.
