Well in the spirt of my soccom thread, here is the sequel.

Looking for input from 07 roundtube dhr owners.

Interested in how you feel about the bike, what maintence and durabilty have been like ect.

Also if you've got one throw a pic up and let's see them bitches, after searching a bit it seems like their is a lack of new dhr's on here.

Yes you should totally replace your socom with a DHR.

yeah the new dhr has been pretty much my favorite frame since it was unveiled last year, and i think it suits me a little better, but i would love some more input.

Ive scoured the web pretty well and not found much beyond litter mag's peek a while back and like 3 people who have em on the forums i surf.

me too, im in line to pick up an 08 and cant find too much other than littermag and sicklines info on it.

I only have about 45 days on mine so far but 16 of them were all day at Whistler so I think it's seen it fair share of riding. I got it in June so it's 5 months old. The only problem I've had is with the thrust washer in the dog link that attaches to the frame, apparently it's too narrow which allows a tiny bit of slop in the rear. I was at the factory last week and Greg is sending me new, wider thrust washers this week so it should be a non issue on '08 frames. Other than that, I found that power washing is really bad for needle bearings so I had to rebuild those but it took about 20 minutes and was back to new.

The frame itself is amazing, if you liked the previous generation DHR then you'll love the new one. It's lower, slacker, shorter and lighter and tons quicker. The only big issue I had with my old DHR was that it didn't feel like it kept its speed through the rough. The new DHR doesn't do that, it keeps going faster.

thanks for the info on the bike. yours looks awesome.

why do you think it is that this version keeps speed through rough better? i feel that my older model definitely gets bogged down in rough so I'm interested in why you say that.

Good question, I think it's several reasons. I think that being lower, slacker and shorter helps it, and the Cane Creek DB really makes a big difference, every hit feels so controlled. The positioning of the cockpit really puts you closer to your front wheel so you wind up more in the center of your bike but because the whole frame is shorter it still turns really fast, like a bike with shorter CS's, IMO.

I don't notice any flex, not even a little bit.

Ah, I didn't even look hard enough to see you had a CCDB. I've heard amazing things about that shock so I'm sure it plays a big role.

I'm not sure if it being lower or slacker makes much of a diffference? Mine is drilled so it is lower than the '07, but I can see it being shorter make a bit of a difference in terms of getting hung up... That is my one issue with the DHR I have. No matter how fast I go into a rough section, after the first few hits I usually get waaay bogged down and exit with far less speed than I entered with.

I'll have to try one of those out and see how it is.


EDIT: Could you measure your BB height for me? Just floor to center of spindle? What size tires?

Nice ride W4, it's really nice to hear its better in the rough stuff, i did think the old dhr tended to hangup pretty badly.

What size is yours?
Do you know about where it weighs in at with your spec?

The dhr is really calling me haha.

edit: 13.6 haha, i dont like short cranks but might have to go with 165's lol.

I used to ride a drilled medium DHR and for the last season rode a Large round tube DHR.
Yes at slower speeds they get hung up on square edged hits, but the nice low leverage ratio in the beginning of the stroke makes it easy to avoid any of those square edges with a little preload, and a bunnyhop. Once you are at speed the DHR floats over the top of the squarest hits.

But don't take my word for it. The results speak for themselves.
Schweitzer one the most bone jarringly rough, and "squarest" courses ever raced was won on a DHR by Needles in 05.

:shocked: Hot damn. Turner advt. the BB at something like 14.4?
Wonder what this is all about?

Sweeeet friggin bike though. I am seriously going to look into one of these now. I really like the geo of the frame a ton and with that BB direct from you....ooooo baby :clapping:

True true.
However, if I can come out at around 14" BB or under with a big 2.5 minion tire and 65.5 or 66 HA then I would be super stoked!!

I spent this season racing the new DHR, and have nothing but good things to say about it.
My 06 always had a slight bit of play in the main pivot, this has not been a problem with the new version.
I love the lower, slacker, more compact geometry of the new design.
The bike corners, jumps and pedals exceptionally well.
The low frame weight helps to build a very light race bike, mine came in at 38.5 pounds.
So far durability has been topnotch, no issues developed in any of our team DHRs all season.
We found our bbs to be 14”-14.25” depending on tire choice with Marzocchi 888s.
I would say for racing the DHR is one of the best choices available today.
The only drawback is Turner's present difficulty in keeping up with demand for the bike
