Good news... the BBTC board of directors approved the Colonnade Phase 2 project plan so, after a 6-week hiatus for design and project planning, we're ready to kick-off Colonnade Phase 2 work parties!

The first 2 are:
Wed 10/24: http://www.bbtc.org/recreation/calen...?event_id=5989
Sun 10/28 : http://www.bbtc.org/recreation/calen...?event_id=5990

So come on out and lend a hand, but also ride Phase 1, check out the Phase 2 site... and be heard... have a look at the plans and tell us what you'd like to build.

The Phase 2 wiki page is under construction, but there are a few maps and some project plan info up there...

Cool. I'm assuming with the length of time it took to complete phase one, there will be many more work parties than these two.

I'll be moving to the area in a few weeks (though after these dates) and would love to come out and help. I'll join BBTC and be in contact once the family has arrived and we're settled.

Nice work so far!

Please register (free) on the site, bbtc.org, it helps with planning. Many more parties to come. I will be working on the pump track when that gets going.

For the pump track, you have to have new dirt brought in.

Fluidride tried to make the current pump track and failed, becuse the dirt is suck. Simon has offerd to buy the dirt for it.

Half of the pump track is under the bridge and gets no rain, the dirt turns to dust. There needs to be new dirt brought in, or some sort of watering system, or it could be made out of wood (like Rays indoor track on the east coast).

Maybe the peoples there have figured this out already, thats my opion though.

Mike, the project manager, is well aware of the challenge of the pump track and how dry the dirt is. When I asked him he said they're putting a kind of stabilizer in the soil. He's got it covered!

Go to the link for Phase 2 on BBTC and see all the lines they've got planned, it's awesome! For right now the work is on french drains and cleanup from what I've read... They also don't intend on Phase 2 taking as long as Phase 1 and being as labor intensive; this one is due to be finished by end of next year. they also mentioned having at least one line done by December of this year. :clapping:

Maybe. IF Mike gets some help. Probably not if most wait around and let others do the work for them like happened with Phase 1.

43 signed up for a fun ride and only 2 for the first work party sorta sets the stage...

With all the hoopla for harder legal stuff here, he should be swamped with offers to help and sign ups.

You are so quick to condemn!
The work parties just got posted the last minute. Considering my own situation with things planned, I think most people are like me and have to plan in advance to attend work parties or rides for that matter....

I'd have been to either of the two days last week 'cept they were conveniently scheduled on days I had to work. I'm sure there will come a day they have one and I just so happen to have that day off. I'll be there when that day(s) come.
I'm all about making my commute a little more exciting - and I don't mean riding at oncoming traffic. That's just dumb.

Update: The dirt lines are coming along nicely and it's going to be flow tastic! Split a bunch of wood this evening for a kinked climbing berm that will be built this weekend. The pump track is now completely flattened and more area was cleared for a really big one that Lars and Simon have promised to be done by Christmas. S/b awesome. Going right up along the Lakeview offramp which will be entertaining for the drivers...

Some really crazy ideas like 60 degree chutes that I guess the city approved. That's hard to believe but awesome! :monkeydance::monkeydance::monkeydance:

And, lots of Whistler and shore inspired features.

Probably will never be "big" enough for all you hard core shred monkies. After all, its a down town park. Not some place out in the woods that we can't talk about here.
But, if you're "creative" I think you might find some crossovers to hurt yourselves on.

There will also be a pretty good roll in off the high line as well as a "Schleyer" style fan out drop so you can get some hang time as well as a variable training area drop area like at Whistler.

But, yep, the best way to get what you want is to show up and give your input. Once stuff is built, I assume there will be a lot more hesitance to "modifications".

maybe a little too dry...are there going to be sprinklers over phase 2?
No sprinklers in the plans. Dryness is definitely the hardest part of building here. There are hoses we can use, so there's options for wetting down parts of the park. A huge load of "turf stones" were delivered today (think the paver-type things on moto trails), so those will go into the tricky spots that need a lot of armor.

I was out there building today for a few hours, working on that ladder bridge in the pics. Added on another 5' to it, so only about 5' more to go. That line should be rideable within a few weeks!

The ladder berm is completely done as of saturday noonish. The chute down to the right is looking crazy. Not sure when the mud is comming for that, but it should be fun.

Got a wood down-ramp feature (into the right berm with all the landscape blocks) in one of the jump lines built as well. Things are definately moving toward a level that will keep everyone entertained.

pump track...pump track...pump track...pump track...pump track...!!!
