The alpental back country is possibly the best in the state with the only competitor being crystal or baker. The parks at west and central are pretty good from time to time and last time I checked they run the largest night skiing operation in the country. There most expensive seasons pass is $460 dollars and from anywhere east of seattle its about a 1/2 hour drive. If thats not a pretty decent list of reasons I don't know what you want.

Well I've only ridden at dusk till dark there, but to me it just doesnt compare to Stevens. The mountain is steeper and has less "open space" and is simply more appealing to me. And as a skier, Snoqualmie has always seemed slow and absent (as far as trees go, in the main runs) to me. Not to mention I've never been able to find that challenging of runs, compared to Stevens skyline and backside.

(disclaimer: Merely an opinion, however not a fair one as I have not ridden Snoqualmie during the day enough to compare.)

Why does the season pass cost more if your not old enough? Thats just stupid.

Reasons to ride snowqulime

1# 1 hour drive from Seattle

2# best back country in Washington except maybe Baker

3# Chair 2 on Alpental, plenty of steeps and tree runs

4# The place is open all day untell 10, 6 days a week. You can mountain bike in the day and ski at night! Or go after work...

"Backcountry" is a relative term since we're talking about lift served BC here. The purists will shudder to hear some folks call any lift served truly "BC".

Yeah, Crystal rocks. Alpental sucks, don't go there. It's flat and the lines are huge, the food is bad, the terrain is awfull, and the snow is always crappy. Terrible. Really....

Back on thread, yeah, they will ask for your I.D. when you pick it up but you may be able to get it mailed to skip that.

Though I was looking forward to yet another Snoqualmie/Stevens bashing each other thread....:monkeydance::monkeydance:

Crystal has ALOT of non-lft accessed BC. I snowshoe into some AWESOME Bowls that noone else gets to. I strap my board to my back, take my GPS unit, and my map and head out to a few point I marked earlier. I always tell atleast 2 people where I'll be headed, for saftey reasons, not like they'll find me in time but they'll know where to search for the body.

True. Crystal has awesome BC.

Back on thread. ffonsok, if you do get caught though, they WILL take your pass away. They don't f around and expect to get seriously heckled from others in the lift line when they yank you....
Roll the dice.

Only way I would do a pass at Snocrummy is if either
a) I was working there or
b) if I could use it at Crystal also and not at a reduced rate...

but I will admit that I took my girl friend and a pet up there yesturday and did a little hiking and taking pictures...

I found that there is a student discount making the pass something like 350.

Not a bad deal

I have to say i've been in the bc at all the major washington resorts, and I must disagree about Alpental as the best back country. Stevens pass has my vote. And plus they are opening for Mt. Biking. So if you haven't experienced it you should.

didn't crystal sell their pipe cat to snoqualmie? :clapping: not to mention its predug so they can open it earlier. which if anybody impotent is reading... would make an amazing center peace to a great slopestyle coarse if it was fully shaped as well.:lighten:

Crystal doesn't have to sell anything to Snoqualmie, Boyne family owns BOTH.

Pssst...Little birdie told me that the Boyne family has a pretty nice MTN bike park at the Boyne MTN resort in Michigan. Shhhh, don;t tell anyone. Maybe we will see something at Snoqualmie, since its not in Mt Rainer Nat. Park.

I guess I cant speak from experanice I was just going off what other people had told me. There is some sick terrain at alpental tough. The best part is I can get there in my 2wheel dive car in less than an hour, and I can go after I get off work.

Anyway I hope they open soon, p.m. for car poolling!
