Be like Nike: just do it.

There's a recovery procedure via iTunes, so there's really nothing you can do so seriously mess it up.

There's a dude who hooked up a mic and hacked VoIP into his iPod Touch, too - free phone calls! http://touchmods.blog.com/

There is no possible way to screw up jailbreaking a touch or iphone...I have been jailbreaking mine since they good ol days when we had to actually type code out to do it. If you ever mess anything up hold sleep button and home button until connect to iTunes shows up. Do you have a OTB 1.1.2 or are you using 1.1.1?

2 - but I know I have to roll it back to 1.

my iPhone has been jailbroken ever since it was released. some apps are more stable than others, but it's easy to revert. :) i like having a shell + ssh handy, just in case.

I just did it this am :)

Now I have to figure out all the fun stuff I can do with it! Any suggestions?
purdy wallpapers? hehe. like i wrote, i'm fond of the terminal ("Term-vt100") and OpenSSH because then i have full access to the phone's filesystem and can ssh out to any other machine. the games 'n junk are cool, too, i suppose...

if you're into interface customization then summerboard is where you want to look. grab that plus some themes and go to town.

:)

summerboard is actually where I started.

I haven't ssh'd in YEARS and I'm sure I don't remember how.

I know I can load the iphone apps - are they worth loading?

if you have an IMAP email account (and gmail is IMAP these days!) then Mobile Mail.app would be key.
