So nearly a great bike - just let down by all the Hayes Corp cr@p.

Will be good to see Kovarik on the same tyres as the competition at least.

Sounds like they've put together a real good package.

Good work No Wage

Have you ridden with the new Hayes Brake (Stroker)? Are you aware they have a four pot dh brake coming out?

Are you aware Chris Kovarik won lots of races (over the years) and a World Cup in '06 on Intense Tires? Please!
Have you ever watched him ride? He's not really what you'd call a finesse rider. Perhaps you should ask him if his flat problem from last year was due to inappropriate line choice or attempting to save weight with fewer plys in his sidewalls.

It ain't the tires, trust me kids.

Awesome!

Great News! - Glad to hear Kovarik found a home, and on an M6 no less! Will be interesting to see what frame they'll be running in 09'.

Congrats!

Careful, if you call out BS for what it is and correct it with actual facts and experience people here start getting pissed.

Kovarik ran 2-ply this year, but apparently because of internal politics, not to save weight.

I'm super stoked he's gonna be riding Maxxis, Peaty never ran blacked-out ITS tires for good reason.

And now half of his bike will have real suspension as well.

You're right, Peat prefers Maxxis. I prefer chocolate chip cookies. Does that mean oatmeal cookies suck? (pardon my use of Kidwoo / InedibleHulk logic)

As long as we're straying completely off subject and talking about riders other than Kovarik, why don't you ask Rennie about blacking out the ITS logos on his tires when he was sponsored by Maxxis.

Oh, I wasn't speculating why Kovarik was flatting, I just offered up a couple possible reasons. When I flat, it usually one or the other.

Like I said before, it ain't the tires.

And RN Poop, have you ridden the new Dorado yet? Or were you inferring that the Cane Creek DB wasn't real suspension?

Do you, like many others refuse to believe in the capacity for change and improvement (in companies, people, anything)? By that logic, we're all sh1tty bike riders because we sucked when we started. Or the new Vivid shock from SRAM is gonna suck because their last attempt at rear suspension failed miserably. I don't get it.

Just sayin' - you don't know 'cause you haven't been there. Why waste energy speculating?

Yes, oatmeal cookies do in fact suck.

Umm...I think you mean the other way around, which only supports my case more. So, thanks...I think?

Like I said before, it ain't the tires.
Yes, it is the tires. Among other things. But mainly that.

And RN Poop, have you ridden the new Dorado yet? Or were you inferring that the Cane Creek DB wasn't real suspension?
DB rules. I have ridden about every product Manapoo has made for a long time. They have maintained an impressive level crappy-ness for that entire time...don't argue please.

Do you, like many others refuse to believe in the capacity for change and improvement (in companies, people, anything)?
It depends. I believe improvement improvement is highly unlikely after years and years of explicit mediocrity.

By that logic, we're all sh1tty bike riders because we sucked when we started. Or the new Vivid shock from SRAM is gonna suck because their last attempt at rear suspension failed miserably. I don't get it.
OK, you don't have to get it. I'm really OK with that.

Just sayin' - you don't know 'cause you haven't been there. Why waste energy speculating?
I don't even know what this means really. How do you know what I do or don't know, and why would you waste your energy speculating about it.

Oh, and who appointed you crusty guy of the day?

Nope, one of the first years of the Syndicate team, they were sponsored by Maxxis and were blacking out the logos on their ITS tires. True story.

Sorry, not trying to be crusty, just saying it's pointless to speculate about stuff without first-hand knowledge. Without that knowledge, it can't be presented as fact.

Personally, I haven't ridden the new Manitou, but I don't realistically have any reason to believe that it's going to suck anymore than I think it's going to kick ass. The company is the same in name only for the most part. There are new engineers on the case. There is new manufacturing being set up. Hell, the whole kit and kaboodle is new. We have nothing to base an opinion of the new Dorado on - good or bad.

Saying you haven't been there was in reference to riding the new Dorado. Sorry for the obtuse comment.

Oh, I always wanted to mention - "HOLY DIVAaaaaaaHHHHHHH....yeaaaaaaah!"

I dunno mate. I gave Intense Tyres a go this year and was flatting them left right and centre. Gave up and went back to Minions. Something there just didn't work for me.

Fair enough, everything said.

How did I not notice Syndicate ran Maxxis...?

I genuinely hope the new Dorado rocks, like Dio, who also rocks.

Roll them 4-ply FRO's...

...(within the context of this derailment): that's a REAL man's tire.

Seriously though - the FRO's are nearly impossible to flat... yeah they weigh a metric ton which isn't great for racing, BUT definitely a burly tire. I've got a set of FRO 909's on my practice wheelset w/ Maxxis Welterweight Tubes and have yet to flat on the super rocky stuff.

Looks like it will be a great team, hopefully have Page and Kovarik around will help the others step up big time! Looks like an excellent bike to me, even the new dorado fork should be good, back to a proper damper and its not like Kovarik was slowed down by the Travis :P

Looks like all the ingredients for a killer team

I've never flatted an intense 2-ply except for once burping the stans in it.
I was even flatting the front with the 2-plys... Something that I've almost never done with Minions. One flat happened during a 60kph run into a tabletop that had a bad cambered corner on the approach. Scared the crap outta me. Went back to Minions a few weeks later and gave my Intense stuff away.

I used to hate on the Manipoo with the best of them. We've had a set of 08 travis dual crowns for three weeks now and I have to say out of the three 08 forks we have (Boxxer Team and 888RC3) it is my favorite and my friends agree.

It doesn't brake dive, it is nice and plush, the adjustments work really well, finish is good.

Only negative we have found is the steerer tube is just a little too thin, and a standard stem slips, but we've had this with a boxxer last year...

Plus it was also the cheepest, came with flat crown and riser crown (Big bonus when you live in a country with inexistant SRAM customer service), stem was included!

I am willing to bet that the Dorado will be a nice fork.
