Sorry this was the best way to get the idea across. Hope this helps. Pay attention to the top of the resi as it can just barely hit (enough to break it) on some of the early frames, minor file/dremel and no probs, just cycle it through with no spring first to check clearance.

Looks pretty simple, if you have the right tools.
Handdrill, drill bit, file, wet/dry paper, benchvise, bushing kit from other bike to trim down, half inch aluminum bar stock (from Home Depot), my hands and about 35 minutes. If nothing else you now have dimensions of the 4 parts to be fabricated call a machine shop.

Thanks, you wouldn't believe how many peeps have e-mailed me from different forums asking about this or just asking to buy my hardware. I feel like I must be the only guy on the planet to have a ROCO on a DEMO 9.....:weee: it works awesome buy the way. Ok I'm off to work on some other rocket science stuff .:teacher: Ok, ok just big airplane stuff in the PNW.

This setup should also be the exact setup to mount a DHX or 5th Element (since they use the same eyelet dimensions). Great info!!

Yup, you got it. Also for those inclined to mount any of the aftermarket shocks to the DEMO 8, same stuff works with the possible difference being the width inside the main frame mount requirering different length hardware in that location, not sure because I haven't measure that myself.

So any other Demo owners get one of these mounted up yet? Anyone going to try? Performance feedback is a good thing.........

Excellent, Krispy is a good guy to deal with. :thumb:

There is also service info I have posted floating around in a couple of threads on RM. So if your friends shock has some issues do some searches and follow the directions as others have with success. Post up how he likes it.....or not.......luck and personal preferences being what they are.

Oh and about you being in Whistler....you suck, I get to go to work again tomorrow....stupid engineering for airplanes   I still haven't been to Whistler this year aaaarrrrrggggg :mumble: :mumble: Have fun bro and stay in one piece.

Thanks and even though you don't have a bike now it's nice that you still post from time to time........your avatars alone are worth it :D When are you gonna be able to ride again?

I mounted an aftermarket DHX to a Demo8, using these exact same measurements, and help from a friend, who knows how to machine stuff. I called up specialized, and they confirmed that the 8 and 9 have the same dimensions when it comes to mounting hardware specs (everything is the same, except for the shock).

$27 gets you a mounting hardware kit from fox.

I have had a number of people from all over the world e-mail me about this thread and all I can say is thanks for the positive feedback and I am happy this has help others. :clapping: :clapping:

One thing I keep hearing is how much trouble it is on any of the Demos to get the shock into the swingarm with the washer/spacers and the limited clearence. There is a real easy trick for fitting the shock into the swingarm end. :lighten: If you look in the 4th picture down in this thread you will see a sponge. :clue: First put a small amount of grease on the surface of the spacer that seats on the bearings in the swingarm. Second, squeeze that sponge inbetween the spacers. Third slide the shock end inbetween the spacers. When the shock is pushed in far enough to hold the spacers flat up against the bearings, pull the soft little sponge out. Line the swingarm bearings, spacers and shock eye bushing up so the bolt can go through. Put the bolt in ....... bla bla bla....... Piece of cake works everytime for me on the first try. Pay attention to which way those spacers are positioned as they are tapered (look at the 3rd picture down), if you have binding it might be because they are backwards. Now go ride. :weee: :weee:

I'm 220lbs+ and run a 450lb RCR Ti spring on a ROCO Worldcup with a 05 888rc up front. The 888 I run 1 stock and 1 heavy spring and a modified compression sleave plus every thing is relieved inside to improve flow (shock and fork). On both the shock and fork I run spectro fluids (custom blend:brows:)
