I am new to the NW, got to do some riding during the summer but don't know where to ride in the winter. Any ideas? Which are the trails in best shape. I am in the Everett area.

Everett area is Japanese Gulch first, then Lord Hill, Armstrong Tract and the better draining soils of Metcalf Trust and Fort Ebey on Whidbey Island as well as the ACFL up in Anacortes.
Or, Cherry valley, Griffin Creek, Tolt-MacDonald and the Tokuls in the Snoqualmie Valley.

Check out the trail wiki for details at www.bbtc.org

I rode Galbraith in the summer and it was awesome. How is it now in the winter time, probably very slippery and even snow.

Borneo, what's the 411 on Lord Hill? Julie and I went out there once in '05 and it seemed like a lot of double-track road and horse crap? Is there some decent singletrack out there, or is it kind of a St. Eds deal, ok if you're local but don't drive for it?

Yes, it falls into the Ed's, SST, Tapeworm, Tolt, etc. scene that it's probably not worth you guys driving out there when other equally or better places are closer.

There are/were several trails out there that are not on the map. Just look around. ;) The wind storm took care of the best unfortunately. Those need a chain saw and it's not as easy as Tolt to get in there and saw it out. Yes, lots of old road and virtually no flats so good for training rides and nice to ride down to the river and then back to the very top with a great view of Seattle and surrounds. (It's the bald spot you can see at 10 o'clock when driving North on 522 just before the bridge.) Awesome summer evening spot for watching the hot air balloons from Harvey Field going by. New trail/property added on the South side all the way to 522. (Also not on the map.) Lots of "Tolt/Banner" style tree farm woods in there as well but very difficult to get the county to let you build new trail legally.

Best, like most Seattle area places, in September/October. Some nettles in Masy/June. Horse poop? Who cares? Can't let a little ground up and processed hay ruin your ride.:monkeydance:

Knowing your penchant for one direction of travel versus the other, probably not worth going back. Though heading North on the gas line on the way out offers some fun opportunities to leave the confines of terra firma.

Lots of beaver ponds out there which are always kinda cool to check out.

Plenty of potential, killer views, but difficult to get to for many and less than bright options for additional trail. Also nearby PVCA should be opening back up real soon for some XC action and there's some short, but fun downs in there that will be kept to re-routed by bikers, for bikers.

Does that answer your question?

snow level is low right and the freezing level is lower so it's gotta be under 700ft... so for freeride that means the only place you can speak of on here is Port Angles... some of my friends rode there last weekend... I couldn't make it... all the other places near sea level are places like SST, tapeworm, etc... mostly all mtn or dirt jumps... if I had the time I'd spend it working on the Collanade...
