I searched but didn't find anything - if this has been discussed, please point me in the right direction.

Just picked up my new '05 Iron Horse 7 point 3 last night and I noticed that the bike wasn't using its full rear travel (limited at about 4"). The reason was b/c the lower link was installed incorrectly and it was contacting the frame during compression. Has anyone else seen this problem?

I measured the travel again and it seems like I am only getting about 6" of travel before the link contacts the frame.

Can some people post up some pics of their lower links (preferably from the non drive side)?

I know there is a link upgrade available for the sunday; is there one for the 7 points? has the design changed since the 05 models?

Thanks for the help.

I had the same problem when I first bought my '05 7point. IH took care of it quick and shipped the new link.

jonny dh- You have a 2006 7.3, (same as mine) and the red lower link means you already have the upgraded hardware. If it was in upside down, you'd know for sure pretty quick- the nasty metal on metal clunk would be your clue. Ride on!

I never new that each size would be different I thought the model of the 7. series where all the same,so do the bigger sizes like the 19" come w/ the extra gusset and the smaller sizes don't?

19" and 17" have the gusset and the 15" doesn't. If you ever get to look at a 15" it becomes obvious right away why the gussets not there, there's simply no room. As is, the top tube couldn't be lowered by much without contacting the upper link.

Marzocchi called me back today about this fork,it is a OE fork and doe s have the same internals as the stock 66 rc2x.heres the funny thing though is that some of the OE forks have only 150 mm of travel,so if you buy any OE forks they could be different.
