Hi guys -

I have what I believe to be a 2006 66vf2 - I'm fairly mechanically inclined and would like to learn how to change the oil. Do you guys know where I can learn about this or do you have any pointers?

Thanks in advance...

Once you have taken out the air in the preload chambers, Take off the top caps and compress the fork. Pull out the springs in both legs. Measure the oil height, from the top of oil, to top of crown where top caps thread in.
Dump the oil out and replace with 7.5 weight Gold Spectro non foaming suspension fluid. THAT'S THE STOCK WEIGHT OIL.

It's very simple. Also once you dump out the old fluid,Cycle the fork a couple times upside down to get the remaining oil out of the rebound and compression cartridges.
Fill it back up to the measured height you had before.

You can also fine tune it by using thicker weight oil in the rebound side to slow it down some. I use 10wt suspension fluid in mine and it works much better than with the 7.5 stock. No more top out with the rebound halfway in!

Thanks for that! Sounds easy enough and I think I will switch to the 10wt oil. Just curious - do you normally pick that up from a motorcycle shop?

Yep... Less than half the price than at the bike shops! It dosen't even need to be Golden Spectro but that's what Marzocchi uses.

Also.. don't mix fluid unless it's the same brand and type oil.. Make sure and drain it all out before you put the new fluid in.

Re: 190 mm, I just oiled up a 66vf2 for a friend and put 190 in each leg,
when ridden it appeared to have no rebound damping in the first inch or so of travel......raising the oil height in the rebound leg by 10 mm cured this
