So I just had a birthday, and got some origin 8 gary bars, a pair of bar end shifters, and tektro's long pull road levers. topped off with some of Soma's thick and zesty bar tape, and my foray into the "alternative" lifestyle begins. Anyone else tried the koolaid? Thoughts? Impressions?

I ve had Garys on my Monocog for a shrt time, liked them except for the technical stuff. Now i have Titec Hbars on there. Similar angled hand position, but upright. Ive got an itch to try the Salsa 17degree flat bars though.
*edit* use a slide on thick mtb grip on the lower part of the drop, its more comfy when cruising the rough stuff. Tape gets kind of slippery when wet-YMMV *end edit*

I've tried the following bars: Midge bar, Gary bar, Space bar, Titec H-bar, Niner's Flat Top 9, and Salsa's 17 degree Moto Ace bar.

I liked them all, with the exception of the H-bar, (mainly beacause it's limiting in a geared set up). I still use Gary's, Space bars, and the Salsa bars on various bikes.

My current favorite is the Space bar with Ergon grips. Love that combo!

The Gary bars work great with the ESI silicone grips on the drop portion, (where you should be riding 90 plus % of the time) and don't get slimy, as the other poster says. I recommend that set up highly.

i'm itching to do a drop-bar 29er build, hopefully soon.

i currently run on-one Mary bars on almost all my bikes, i love 'em in any terrain including jumping and such.
