Has anyone had this happen to their 5.10 shoes after one season of riding?:

Wearing through the foam on the inside of the ankle.

Or is it just my riding style?

Do you have cranks with relatively sharp edges around the spindle? Like Diaboluses or something? I've seen it happen, but not on mine (I have the low-tops though). Like big dan, I had more issues with the sole peeling away, though in my case it was from the side of the ball of the foot rather than the very front.

Yeah, rubbing them on your swingarm. You right right-foot forwards yeah, so there's more wear on the left shoe because that one sits against the frame all the time. If you have something vaguely sharp there like a trimmed ziptie or something as well that won't have helped.

Mine are 2-3 years old now and still pretty much as good as new apart from the sole wearing down. Best longevity out of any riding shoes i've ever had by a mile.

Have been racing mine for almost two seasons and they are still in very good condition... Also depends on you foot position if they rub or not on your crank/frame.

Ditto. But I also take very good care of mine. They have their own place on the bed between me and the wife...right next to my bike.

If it wasn't for the lettering "portholes" on the bottom, I wouldn't even guess those to be fivetens...what year are those or what? Are they even Impacts? They look like some cheap, over stuffed shoe. It also looks like you never untie them...shame on you. That's abuse AND neglect!

2 seasons with a LOT of riding on those cranks and that didn't happen to mine...

They are from the first run of the new design 5.10 Impact Lo-top bought from CRC.

The soles are nearly worn smooth where it sits on the pedal - I expect this kind of wear however as it is sticky (soft) rubber.

The stitching around the cuffs came loose fairly early, but no biggie.

The scuffing and wear on the inside of the ankle is what annoys me. I have never had this happen to this extent with any other shoe.

I do ride a lot, perhaps more than most. And I have always said that a day's riding in Morzine equates to a weeks riding elsewhere.

-Seb: I like your theory, but I ride left-forward and it is the left shoe that is worn more. The pedal do pass close to the swingarm of my M3, but there are no zipties or sharp bits.

No idea. However, as it sounds like this may be a single case problem, I'll go and get another pair.

The consensus is in... you ride like a gammy foot, wall-eyed, crow toed yokel.

err... I mean... No never seen anything like that.

Haha....perhaps.

Looking at some pics, my feet look like they are right in the inside of the pedal. Might have something to do with it.

Time to look at how I place my feet eh?
