xMARTINx, that is a sweet Nicolai, I like it. how those links match the Roco too...

bullcrew, why would the links be harsh? harsin' on your mellow? haha...

and yeah, Defenestrated, most definitely a LOT of people running the flat wide glides this year. Big time east coast thing it seems. I'm wondering when one of them will actually mount up some two-piece bars on their triple clamp fork like a crotch-rocket street bike, clamped UNDER the top clamp!!! watch out!

Well my maxxis HR ST 2.35" UST tyres turned out to be way lighter than someone on here suggested - 944 & 982g versus the 1075 I was told. So that's knocked about half a pound off of my DHi, and I've knocked another half off with a carbon MRP, e13 guidering chainring and a formula the one brake.

Weight as she stands at the moment: 36.6lb. I'll get a new photo tomorrow, but it's just the below with a carbon slalom (instead of alu world cup) MRP, a smaller chainring and a formula 200mm brake on the bacK:

I like it... I fear it may not be long for this world though - I've broken one before and I've noticed recently that the paint has cracked around the edge of the weld immediately below the lower shock mount in that pic. Can't be a good sign can it! :(

40 lbs is still just a dream for me. It's sitting mid 43's and I don't know of many more places to cut weight without spending lots to get little. The frame itself is the big anchor weighing everything down. I've never had much luck with lighter rims.

Parts as follows
2005 Norco Team DH frame with custom shock shuttle (13.75"bb & 64.5 degree ha)
Fox DHX 5.0 with RCS Ti spring
2007 Marzocchi 888 RC2X WC fork with 2005 Marz tall crowns
Hadley/Mavic 729 rear
Formula/Mavic 729 front
Avid Juicy 5 8/6 rotors, Straitline levers
Thomson Elite 50mm stem
Chromag flat bar
Sram x9 shifter/X.0 rear derailleur
E.13 SRS with Gamut bash/Blackspire 38 chainring
Hone Cranks
Shimano 12-28 cassette.
SDG I-fly I Beam seat/post
Wellgo MG-1 pedals
Maxxis Minion DHF c/w Stans strips & sealant
I figured the best way to dump some weight was with the biggest part...the frame.

She now sits at a nice 40.45lbs.

I gotta say, I'd like to weigh it on some of the scales I see in this thread, some of them seem.....ummm....optimistic

That looks well nice, great photo mate!

Regarding authenticity of weights here, I'm presuming that's aimed at me since there's not many dipping below 37lb here: well I can guarantee mine is spot on, each part was weighed individually when I stripped the bike down for it's annual rebuild a few weeks ago.

In addition, to remove any doubt I've checked my scales with objects that I KNOW the correct weight of, and they've been spot on. Also they give very similar values to other "correct" weights i've seen - e.g. sicklines & starbike.

Thanks, and I wasn't pointing at you Seb. I've followed your posts over the years, there's no doubting your weights.

I bought a pair of those same UST Highroller 2.35's and the weight was similar to yours but those size of the tires is closer to 2.1's than 2.35's. In fact, I have 2.1's that are wider. I was not very pleased. I guess that is why you can get such a good deal on Ebay on these. They are only half way useable as a rear tire in my opinion.

On that Norco I would consider different wheels if you want to drop some serious weight. I used to have similar wheels as you but switched to Mavic DeeMax wheels and tubeless tires and that easily accounted for 2 to 3 lbs weight loss. The wheels are pretty much bombproof too! I'm a 240lbs rider and tough on wheels. They last a long time if you clean and re-oil the freehub body every few months.

Well they certainly look narrower than my michelin 2.2s, I'll give you that! Doesn't really bother me though, they seem grippy enough, and I run tubeless so don't tend to pinch.

I'd need to see your math it you think your Deemax saved 2-3 lbs over Hadley/Formula & 729's. By going Hope Pro II's & 721's I can shed just under a pound. Unless you've got the "factory racer" helium filled hubs, I don't think it's possible.

Going to a 40rc2 would drop a pound, boxxer WC 1.5lbs if you felt the need. Are you running it tubeless btw?

Looks sweet all cleaned up!

Yep, tubeless with Stan's strips.

The Fox 40 is about a half lb. lighter than the 888 WC. We weighed one last night. My 888 is 7.38lbs and the 40 RC we weighed last night was 6.92lbs. I really like the feeling of a Marzocchi, I won't be changing any time soon.

You don't have a front to match the rear Hope/721 do you Fraser?

About all I plan on looking at is wheelsets, everything else is how I like it. I can pick up a DHX air for really cheap but I really like the feel of a coil.

Man, those Blindsides look really top heavy. Kinda looks funny with the bulk up high and a big honking gap down low. I don't get why people find them so cool looking.
didn't think of them that way till you said that. thanks for ruining it for me

Naw, my old front wheel was about 4-5 seasons old. It was time or retirement. I have a new set of hope stuff on the way from orange for this year.

Heres my Lapierre:

With full Xo - Staints, Mrp slalom (with top roller removed), Oro's, 888rx2x's, 823's, 2.5 highrollers, ti tioga saddle, ea70 bars, 160 + 203 alligator/unex rotors, unex thermo-dissipator pads with kevlar (helps with running the small rotor) alligator i-link cables.

Comes in around (prob a little over) 40lbs on the bedroom scale method - will hopefully be well under when i change to 721's on pro 2's, mag pedals, ultegra cassette and eventually boxxer wc's (im only light at 69kgs so a lighter bikes appreciated)
