Well after a long time of resisting I have finally joined. My wife has been on for a while but I kept resisting. The she pointed out how she was able to catch up with a lot of friends she's lost along the way in life. I thought about it and since I have moved about 6 times in the last 15 years I figured I'd give it a shot...does anyone else have anything good they can share about facebook?...D

If you don't communicate with them in real life then you don't need to communicate with them electronically. There is a reason you lost touch, go with it.

well some I just lost touch with when I moved here to Canada...lost some numbers along the way and other variables...but I do think it would be cool to find some friends from my middle school days...my family had to move all of a sudden so I lost touch with a lot of good friends...back then the internet was a big question mark...D

for a while i used to play Scrabulous on facebook obsessively. that was fun until it wasn't. :D

otherwise it's much better than sending out mass emails for keeping people updated, and the events/invitations feature is useful as well.

Facebook is also a great way of sharing photos with friends.
I've found some old friends through it and its handy for communicating with folks halfway around the world.

Meh, Facebook isn't so bad. At least it's fairly customizable so you can control the amount of information everyone sees or the amount that you are flooded with.

As long as you ignore the sixteen billion requests that anyone associated you will send you to join in their various games, it's fairly decent.

It's a pretty convenient way to just say hi or see what people are up to. Or, if you're like me, it's nice that it reminds you of your friends birthdays because you have a horrible memory for dates :D

I still can't believe you're on Facebook

Maybe I will try it although I am not sure who I would want to reconnect with.

I found lots of people I haven't seen and don't care to see. I'm with Laura on this one. The best part about facebook is the old school arcade games you can play

I hear you can score with underage girls there & skank-ass whores too.

If you are into that sort of thing.

I've studied, worked, and lived in various places around the world. I first got on Facebook when a friend from Germany sent me an email invitation. I've since been able to reconnect with my old boss from Nokia in Finland, keep up with my friends in the UK, Norway, and Germany, as well as check in with people across the US.

It may be the only way I find out how the kids I used to be a governess for in Spain are doing. I think it's a great way to reconnect.

Reconnecting with old friends is like finding a piece of jewelry you wrapped up and put in the back of a box before a move. You might have forgotten about it, but seeing it again you remember how much you love it, and you enjoy it all over again.

I have not been impressed with Facebook so far because:

1) Few of my friends use it

2) I am feel uncertain about their privacy policy and future protection of my privacy.

I like it, its how i stay in contact in the offseason with a lot of the guys i race with. Good place to upload a bunch of pictures too. Just make your profit private so no one random can bother you.

Weird. I signed up just cause I've actively been looking for my childhood best friend. Somehow Acadian showed up in my "friends"
All I entered is where I went to school.

i have actually met a handful of attractive girls who go to uvm via facebook.* i took advantage of the opportunity when they all started adding people to be their friends so they would know people right when they got to college. :D

i didn't know there was a ridemonkey group on facebook...

*just to clarify, i have actually met them in person, not just on the internet.

the iLike app is fun. endless name that tune...

Photo/video upload is fast compared to photobucket

I also like the simplicity of the layout. Myspace is just a big mess most of the time, and annoying to navigate. Facebook is like going through a pile of CVs. I consider that a good thing.

Damn, Toshi, you get extensions?

Facebook has actually helped me get back in touch with some good friends from high school. It's nice. I like the MyCyclingLog application. Lets everyone know how little you ride because you're swamped at work.

so who here is adding other people from rm as friends now?

i still think that it would be weird because i don't know anyone by their actual names, nor do i know if people would want to talk to me outside of this website due to the amount of stupid comments and insults i throw around.
