Should the Olympics be strictly an event of competitions or should there be socio-political ties and meaning to it?

Everything can evolve, so even if the modern day Olympics was a nazi creation, it doesn't mean the olympics itself is evil. I mean, it's not like there was a javelin throw at jews competition or a pommel horse gymnastic event using blacks as the horse.

I'm only posting cuz work is slow, RM is slow, and I've been banned from the rest of the internet.

Otherwise, you'd be left to play with yourself.

I'm confused about Tibet... weren't they part of China to begin with? They rebelled and lost, right? This planet has always been about spoils of war, yeah?

This is an interesting read on Tibet, I first looked at it after watching Penn & Teller's Bullsh*t where they tore down some popular misconceptions about Mother Theresa, Gandhi, etc. I have heard since that it is a product of Chinese propaganda, but it is totally footnoted with sources so who knows.

Either way, I doubt the average lifestyle of a Tibetan serf was a bowl of cherries.

In 1959, Anna Louise Strong visited an exhibition of torture equipment that had been used by the Tibetan overlords. There were handcuffs of all sizes, including small ones for children, and instruments for cutting off noses and ears, gouging out eyes, breaking off hands, and hamstringing legs. There were hot brands, whips, and special implements for disemboweling. The exhibition presented photographs and testimonies of victims who had been blinded or crippled or suffered amputations for thievery. There was the shepherd whose master owed him a reimbursement in yuan and wheat but refused to pay. So he took one of the master’s cows; for this he had his hands severed. Another herdsman, who opposed having his wife taken from him by his lord, had his hands broken off. There were pictures of Communist activists with noses and upper lips cut off, and a woman who was raped and then had her nose sliced away. were handcuffs of all sizes, including small ones for children, and instruments for cutting off noses and ears, gouging out eyes, breaking off hands, and hamstringing legs. Sounds like a new joke...

"This Nazi, a Tibetan, and a Chinaman walk into a bar....."

I'd bet 3/4s of all these "protesters" couldn't find Tibet on a map.
