I didn't think it was possible, but the new version is uglier than the old

Looks killer! I was a fan of the first gen Saint (cranks, brakes, shifter at least) and the new stuff looks like a big improvement all around.

Anyone else notice the return of 4-pot calipers? That plus servo-wave should add up to some swank brakes. I really like my new-style XTs.

I am not a big fan of the gold though.

I dig the look of the XT/ Saint levers, but never been a fan of 'servo-wave', seems like a bit of over engineering. I remember their XT and XTR vbrake levers running a roller bearing that would slide towards the pivot as the brakes engaged, increasing leverage. I wasn't into it then either.

for the 770 XTs it works more like a pad contact adjustment. It does give you a bit more leverage but you can set it up to be linear rather than progressive. Perhaps the hot ticket will be XTR levers with Saint calipers a la Ultimate Codes.

I like the text going along the side of the cranks but on my saints the paint has rubbed off on that area because of foot positioning, so it wouldn't last that long :(

edit: why couldn't saints get the cool black/silver look from slx/saint :(

looks good to me the brake calipers and rear mech look sweet, also interested to find a weight on the cranks.

awesome stuff!!

hope the dérailleur is closer to a road dérailleur then a mtb dérailleur, so that the jockey wheel is really close to the cassette, and not about two links further in front. (what ever that dimension is called)

bye bye sram attack- shimano 105 combo, hello saint!!

edit: woohoo!!

On a standard mtb block, the mech parallelogram sweeps from small to large gear. When using a close-ratio block, the angle needed to clear the smaller cogs is much shallower. Road mechs follow this shallow angle to keep the chain close to the block for tight, fast shifts. Guess what? The Saint can do both! Yup, you change the sweep angle based on your block to optimise your shifting.

Cool! Just like the old 755s. I've used those for probably eight years or so and haven't found anything I like better. I e-predict these will be great.

Also, notice that the shifter have some side to side adjustability on the perch?

Nobody comments on how odd it is that the new brakes are two peice after years of Shimano commenting about the benefits of a single peice caliper?
I'm disappointed in them being 2 piece, I'd rather have one piece forged and machined than 2 pieces held together with a multitude of heavy steel screws. Understand the engineering/manufacturing difficulty, though...

Have to say, from a group perspective this looks amazing. Lets hope that they don't throw in that *one* monkey wrench as they've done in the past (RR rear dérailleur, 32/32 cranks, etc).

Seems like the big S has stepped it up a little. I will be curious to see if SRAM has an offering specifically for the gravity set.
