Recently been checking out the new line of Jamis bikes, pretty sick stuff, way better than last season IMO.
Came across their new DH/FR rig the Bam
http://content.mtbr.com/TRP_14_333_1crx.aspx
Anyone ridden one, seen one, any info at all?
All I have is some online pics and the 08 Jamis catalog

The shop I ride for www.cycletheraphy.com
carries them, hence my main reason for getting one.
And for the price, the spec is great, and I have heard some great stuff about them.

And No I'm not looking for why don't you get this bike, blah blah.
Just the facts
Thanks

Wait a minute, are you telling me that a pro rider broke a frame? Call the police this is a serious issue that needs to be taken care of promptly. Oh man I just remembered something: ALL FRAMES BREAK EVENTUALLY.

Nice machine, love the bare metal look,
I know it sounds silly but their logo really puts me off, I guess graphics are important, I hate their homemade looking logo it looks like someone made it microsoft word in 1998.

"ALL FRAMES BREAK EVENTUALLY" it was at 2007 worlds and it was an 08 frame!! yeah sounds reasonable for it to break.

I like the look of this frame better than the Diablo....I like that it has a through seat tube.

Hey guys, yes it is truth that Kat broke a frame at Worlds this year. She was riding a prototype frame that we built for her. It was a test bike and well it broke. We learned from it, redesigned and moved on.
However, Jordie Lunn has been on his BAM for months riding up at Whistler, filming and doing clinics and has ridden the bike hard, with no issues.
Again, Kathy was ridind a prototype test bike.... If you guys have any questions contact me....

definitely an improvement on the diablo... you couldn't even adjust the shock settings without removing it from the frame. this platform should prove reliable... similar to devinci, transition, azonic, etc. does seem like it could use some more beef though...

at Interbike and I have to say I was impressed. Jamis is a value company in that they give you alot for the money in comparrison to Santa cruz or Specialized. They have a history of spending alot of there $ on complete bikes on the parts. Historically their frame designs have been abit behind the times but the parts on the bikes have been killer values. Last year they started to improve their frame designs and kept the value. I bought there cross county darker top of the line bike for a thousand less then a silimarly equiped specialized. I have really been impressed how fast that bike rides. Back to the bam bike, it rode really well. It handles drops and jumps well. I was amazed how well it pedaled. The only thing I did not like was how it tended to wollow in the lower gears when climbing. Jamis will never be as cool as Intense or specialized but you get value for your $ with Jamis. They also have a rep for standing behind their product. MTBR has a Jamis forum ask them as well.

I would say Cutter is pretty much on the money here. If your looking for a decent bike to start out and get into the sport with and not spend a ton of green then Jamis is your company. you are going to get a pretty good frame that will stand up to your general all around abuse and you are going to get a hell of a parts pack for the money. I ride the freeride hardtail they make and its a great bike with a solid build for easily 5-800 less than what i would pay for any other company. I wish they were making the bam 3 years ago... i deffinatly would have picked it up as my first DH bike and saved myself 2K from what i picked up my demo II for.

Hey Guys,
Just keep watching.. we have some stuff in the works. Yes Jamis is a value brand, but we are also working really hard to develop and prove that our bikes are great. With Kathy Pruitt and Jordie Lunn thrashing and helping develop the bikes, we will continiue to improve as well as prove.

its def great on the money/price point wise
also I'm not new at all to Dh or FR at all
last year was my first year racing Dh at SS
but I've been ridding for many years and
I was on an 04 bighit expert with an 888rc last season
i was just wondering how Dh capable it will be mainly.
I have no problem with ridding Dh on a 7in bike
and I'm sure that it will handle it, just wondering about cornering
high speed, how well it sticks to the ground etc.
I'm pretty much dead set on getting one though.
The only other brands Cycle theraphy sells for MTB's
is haro and intense, I'd love to get an intense minus the price
and haro, well it just sucks

rep sent. I'm sure that your new stuff will ride at least as well as any over-marketed FSR bike... ;)

Not rep sent.. but close. I am the product manager at Jamis, so yes I am a bit one sided about the design and use of our bikes. But they are being ridden hard and standing up to the test.

ha, ooops, sorry forgot you just got back on here after being in self-imposed exile in Olney... sent you rep via the "give rep" button since you're here discussing your product, and my compliment was mostly real and just a little back-handed. :)

I have been riding the bam for about a month now. In fact it will be replacing last years demo. I am very impressed with this bike. Not only does it out peddle any dh bike I have ridden but it also will out handle most. It is supper smooth and responsive. While I have made some changes to the bike I still think that is the best price/buy for a performance dh/fr bike you can buy at the current time. I test rode a lot of bikes before making my decision. I also have a xam and when it comes to warranty work I am never questioned. Does your bike manufacturer's product manager ever get on ridemonkey, pinkbike, or mtbr to tell you about their product or offer to answer any of your questions? I think that says a lot about a bike company that is very interested in not just feedback from their professional riders but also from their consumers. Two thumbs up here for Jamis.

i spent most of my summer in whistler riding the mtn and air dome. a large portion of that was with jordie. that guy rides hard and he was on the same bam from the time i saw it until i left. he raved about it the entire time, which coming from an x i hoe rider whi is pretty judgmental is impressive. i loved the way it rode the two times i got to ride it. i would definitely say its worth checking out, plus the spec is KILLER for the price

Hey Guys,

I gotta tell ya that I am very happy with the response and what people have been saying about the BAM!
The BAM is a super fun bike! And, it is true that we listen to all of our riders as well as customers. After all they are the ones buying the bikes and putting the most time on them! Keep riding and please anytime you can send in PICS! We love to see what you guys are doing on the bikes!

Kathy Pruitt broke her bam frame at worlds i heard
Source? Maybe it was one of the old Diablos. I talked the Kathy at Interbike(while getting her autograph) and she totally dug the new design and had nothing but good to say about it over the old Diablo. I rode the BAM at the outdoor demo at Interbike and never had a problem on the runs i took and i even took a 15 footer.
