I have no interest in bashing anyone or having a DH vs XC debate (don't we all ride XC too?) but there are some people at MTBR already spreading some false info about 26 West. They are comparing them with developers that are destroying entire mountainsides amongst other things.

I already posted and PM'd a few of them but it may be nice to have some backup. I saw all types of people (DH, XC, etc) at the race last year that were in full support of having this park.

I - of course - have nothing to gain financially, I'm just really excited to be able to ride my DH bike only 30 minutes from home. I don't know what's up with the attitudes on that forum but there's a good reason that I don't look at it very often.

Yeah that thread got lame quick. I mean I hate to say it. But Asheville is full of people like that, might as well ignore them.

*No offense to anyone from Asheville that's not all granola-ed out*

sounds like that guy is one of those guys that probably talks all green and hippy, and than turns around and gets in his land rover that sucks gas and drives a mile to go get a latte at starbucks. Nothing against guzzlas just the persona. i think this is great, its not nearly the drive snowshoe is, which matters now. its looking like $4 a gallon for gas, so trips to windrock and walden ridge is what my summer looks like, which is not a bad thing

Development is going to happen, best to fight it as hard as possible, but when its inevitable, such as huge projects like this "breakaway NC" project that are probably backed by endless attorneys and lobbying $$, folks need to count their blessings that there's a bike park going on a mountain side instead of a golf course.

Geeze, There is only one dude or dudette bitching over there so to me there is no concern. He's probably a fixy guy that wears tight knickers and a messenger bag.. so what if he doesn't like it. The bike park is going to happen and it is going to be Rad! It makes me so stoked to come home after a summer of being spoiled by the riding and boating out here in the PNW! The bike community as a whole will benefit by this new park. Bo

It's gonna be killer to have a bikepark 30 minutes from the house and IMHO better than building a bunch of cookie cutter houses in that space. Who can complain when the development benifits outdoor enthusiasts? I'm gonna drive my work F-Juan Fiddy up there opening day which gets about 12 MPG and give the "friendly wave" to any Prius I pass with a 29er fixie bike on the roof while the RPMs are pinned out.

In a van down by the river.
I post over there from time to time and I don't get it at all. Having a park close to home will be sweet. I plan on getting over that way fer sure.Shredding the beginner runs on my trail bike........if I have the skills.
