I have rambled in the past, and am mostly curious at this point as there may be some legitimate reason for it but:
Why the heck does Diablo close at 4 on weekends? Does the ridership/economics favor it? Certainly later weekdays accomodate after work rides, but why not stay open until at least 5pm on weekends? Weekends - 7hrs open, weekdays - 8hrs open.
Some people don't do half days because 'its not worth it' and so late day ridership reduces -- however, I believe that with the extended hour, many more people would be inclined to do an afternoon where they wouldnt have come at all (if they had AM obligations, or weren't early birds.) This has been the case for me, as well as innumerable other riders who have mad a similar comment/claim.) The half day price is very steep and 3hrs weekend, vs 4hrs weekday.
This is not a criticism or complaint (maybe a little bit of 'waaaah') but rather a curiousity! I would LOVE it to change, but I digress! Diablo makes me grin like a maniac, and:
