New custom carbon Ibis Tranny hardtail for Brian Lopes. Has a few tweaks from the model they have been making in the past. 27 pounds and Brian figures they will be able to drop 1/2 or so off the frame by removing wraps in a few areas.
aaaaaahahahahahah! nice one jeff!Tranny is right. It looks like it used to be something else, and botched surgery lead to that.
Yeah I definitely get that 5 o'clock shadow and square jaw looking at me with a wig and makeup feel.........Tranny is right. It looks like it used to be something else, and botched surgery lead to that.
Nope, thats his real hair...Yeah I definitely get that 5 o'clock shadow and square jaw looking at me with a wig and makeup feel.........
not to mention the "madam's apple" on the seat tube.Yeah I definitely get that 5 o'clock shadow and square jaw looking at me with a wig and makeup feel.........
Is there a reason he's not running the new saint cranks? If anyone gives a crap.....
Lopes uses saint cranks on a hardtail because of the rigidity/stiffness of the crank in comparison to an XTR. When he put XTR cranks on a hardtail he can just feel them flex, you can see it when he gate starts.
He uses/deals with xtr cranks on a FS bike solely for the weight savings and a FS bike is flexing a bit in the gate already so he just deals with it....but likes the rock solid feel of the saints on HT despite the weight gain.
No idea...if I were to guess-are the new ones heavier? less rigid? or perhaps shimano was out of stock of new ones?Is there a reason he's not running the new saint cranks?
That's the 44 graphics for next season. They are debating whether to ship each retail fork with a sheet of all colors, or if it will only be an OEM option.totally off topic but is that zoch graphic scheme new for the upcoming year or are they running them now like that? I think i dig it but im not sure yet...
hmmm i think i am liking it, i hope they run this theme through the whole line, ill be in the market for a fork next season and am leaning towards a zoch...not sure if i am in love with the current scheme though. That's the 44 graphics for next season. cranks arn't out to pros as of yet. and they are actually lighter. they're using the same process as the XTR cranks. but still just as stiffNo idea...if I were to guess-are the new ones heavier? less rigid? or perhaps shimano was out of stock of new ones?
Ask fraser.
man that sucks the xtr's are a pain in the ass to work with in terms of tools and removal...cranks arn't out to pros as of yet. and they are actually lighter. they're using the same process as the XTR cranks. but still just as stiff
Matti has some.cranks arn't out to pros as of yet. and they are actually lighter. they're using the same process as the XTR cranks. but still just as stiff
Just for clarification, the new Saint cranks do not use the left arm attachment like XTR. They use the 2 pinch-bolt, compression cap that the current Saint uses. Not sure what DHS was referring to - maybe that they will be using the same aluminum that the XTR uses.man that sucks the xtr's are a pain in the ass to work with in terms of tools and removal...
they do work well when on though...I had to remove my xc bike's last night and was getting angry
Exactly what I was thinking. You gotta have a water bottle cage mount, what if you get thirsty mid race...
So is that how old Lopes is nowadays? That's the 44 graphics for next season.
if you look on the ibis site you'll see that the tranny is more of an xc hardtail, they just made lopes a one-off for racing slalom/4x.Really, who is going to buy this frame? 20 year old gnarcore kids who steal pennies from mom's purse? 55 year old froriders from their 401k?
He's a human being mate, he can't possibly 'put down' that much horsepower.Brian and i talked about the rear end. It would have been way too flexy with the kind of horsepower he puts down. The rear end on this bike is completely bonded, although the bolts are actually still there.
Aha!if you look on the ibis site you'll see that the tranny is more of an xc hardtail, they just made lopes a one-off for racing slalom/4x.
Do you have any idea how many watts Lopes, Carter etc put out? He's a human being mate, he can't possibly 'put down' that much horsepower.
I have seen both lopes and carter snap chains like toothpics out of the start gate. I am pretty sure they can flex a frame with ease. He's a human being mate, he can't possibly 'put down' that much horsepower.
I believe Fraser mentioned the frame is now bonded solid where that pic shows a joint.Aha!
I like the lines of the frame, but I wonder if Lopes' bike has this feature:
If a frame isn't stiff we feel it for sure....from chains snapping to frame flexing enough to change alignment and cause the chain to skip....He's a human being mate, he can't possibly 'put down' that much horsepower.
If a frame isn't stiff we feel it for sure....from chains snapping to frame flexing enough to change alignment and cause the chain to skip....
stiff cranks give us a lot of leverage and if the bike isn't ready to handle it we find the weakness.
true story....2003 and 2004 Mountaincross races i would go through 3 chains in a weekend of racing....one for practice...new one for practice and qualifier and new one for race....sometimes a forth during the race if my mechanic found a split link.
