Thanks WFS. After the short advocacy / protest ride, we'll probably do a bit more riding in the park, and then convene for lunch and beers. The monkey who brings the most people with him or her will get their first beverage of choice on me...no, I don't mean I'll spill it on you, I mean I'll buy it for ya.

Pegboy, we will be shuttling all the canyon trails with channel 7 in hot pursuit. Orven's right, I'd call it an organized freeride protest. Leave your visors at home.

Jesus, can't you take anything seriously? This is very important. I expect to see you all at the 9 am tomorrow. I think people will be riding outer mongolia or meadows, EL Jefe can tell you for sure, though.

Meadows is the open trail we'll ride, with Highlander as the closed trail we're hitting up. Highlander ends near the bridge at Meadows, which is where we'll gather to say our piece.

We had about 100 riders, and while tv media didn't show, we have LA Times coverage as part of a larger story regarding the Montage, the county, Laguna Beach city officials' campaigns, and other juicy stuff.

A story is going over to a nationally distributed mtb mag as well. It would have been nice to get immediate publicity, but this movement isn't about a one shot "stick it to the man" kind of thing. It's about becoming a voice in county politics and park land management. I would say it's mission accomplished.

Well, it's a step. But we've got to keep the light on the issue(s), and broaden the base of folks interested in this.

damn...now I'm really bummed I havn't kept up o nthe boards this past week. I would have been all over this. are there future rides of the similar nature being put together?

sounds like a successfull gathering. good work.

Thanks for the referal. I'm not familiar with either of those sites. I'll check 'em out.

It's been a little trying to pull together info on this. There's a snippet here, a link there. Pretty hard for anyone newly aware or interested in getting involved to get a complete picture...
